California has a lot of similarities to communist countries. In both places the elite at the top get all the goodies. They both talk a lot about "the workers", "diversity" and other crap but in the end its all about the elite.

I live in CA and a ton was spent on Yes on 22, hardly noticed No on 22 ads at all.

The ads were pretty deceptive and made it seem as if Yes on 22 was good for the drivers.

They got Mothers Against Drunk Drivers to shill for them as well, I guess MADD figures the larger available slave driver pool the less drunks on the road?

Perhaps deep down CA Uber/Lyft riders know that keeping driving independent = cheaper rides, and prefer their cheap rides to more expensive rides with happier drivers, the same reason most people don't tip their rideshare drivers and delivery people.

Millennials don’t like to drive. They love their Uber so this would hit them hard. The ones that do drive like being lazy and having a job that it only 4hrs a day during call of duty and fortnight breaks

A lot of the drivers work other full-time jobs and just drive a few hours here and there for extra $. Unionizing would have killed that completely.

Liberals are short sighted and they knew making these drivers employees would mean higher lyft and uber rates. No liberal is going to pay more than they half to. If its something that is going to take a decade (speed rail) then they are all in on spending other peoples money.

It's not cuckening.

If that ballot measure would have passed, not only the drivers would have bailed (because they'd make less than what they're making today for crappy health insurance), but the companies would not have made any money and vacated CA.

Only a few drivers wanted those extra benefits. Most of those drivers are on medi-cal/medicare or covered California health plans. They don't need benefits, they need higher wages.
