Yes, they could indeed. But you know the spiral, if it is allowed to carry a gun in Europe as a citizen, you open up another world for terrorists and psychopaths as well. Can't just win with this ****

It is allowed to carry a gun in Europe as a citizen. In Austria you need to apply for a license to carry a weapon (Waffenpass). Not as easy as in the US but possible. There is a big weapon store in the area I live in which is always packed.

No need to apologize, you are correct that it's still very uncommon. But I'm pretty sure it's possible in most EU countries, with different stipulations. Plus you might be watched closely by secret service if you apply for a license. Not comparable to the US for sure.

I'm in Norway and the only thing you are allowed is hunting weapons, just for hunting. You can under no circumstances go anywhere else with a weapon other than areas (forests) approved for hunting. And of course, you need to be allowed to hunt first, as well as the weapons have to registered.

I see, didn't know that. I know of some neighboring countries that it's similar to Austria, like Germany or Czech Republic.

Look at the US for an excellent example, every single high murder and gunshot rate area hasextremely strict gun laws, every single one.Why? Because only law abiding citizens follow the law, criminals dont give a single fuk either way. All of the areas with high citizen gun ownership have incredibly small gun violence cases. There are thousands of examples of citizens with a gun stopping a horrible crime from happening, but you will never ever hear about them in the media. Ever.

You know why? An armed society is a polite society. When everyone is allowed to be armed, the bad guys are well aware the risk theyre about to take is 1000x more dangerous than if everyone was disarmed. One of the biggest lies still pushed in modern day is that allowing people to own guns will turn it into the wild west, thats flat out bullchit to keep you unarmed.

Could've been an idea years ago, man. But the amount of "mental ill" people today compared to the older days are staggering. Society s producing them at a higher rate than ever and you could blame it on many sorts of things. I don't disagree with you, but as I am seeing the world, it will end up a lot like future sci-fi movies and games where only the Elite has weapons as well as military/security forces.

The last Killzone game (ps4) always comes to mind when I look at the future.

I live in Norway and laws have been like this for a long time. The police don't even carry guns normally. The guns are locked in the back of their vehicles (srs). So far, it has worked out well, but who knows how things will go down in the future. Our population is increasing along with criminality, just like in every other European country.

This has been proposed in Vienna too by the green party, just a few weeks ago. Fortunately no one took them seriously. The attacker would have never been stopped so quickly (took the police 9 min) if the police wouldn’t have been armed and ready to strike.
