Who else is doing NaNoWriMo?
National Novel writing Month is in November, also abbreviated as NaNoWriMo.
The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. There is no set strategy, but my plan that has worked successfully before (in 2011) is to write 24 chapters of at least 2,100 words per chapter.
In 2011 I wrote a novel called “Planet of the Titans” about a group of people in a space plane in 2029 ending up on a planet of giants so huge, that a six foot tall man would stand one inch tall by their measurement. Lots of hot giantess characters.
This year, I’m doing something where it’s like Harry Potter, but the protagonist is a Slytherin girl who starts out evil, but makes the right choice at the end. There’s shrink ray guns. I’ve finished the first two chapters, and I’ll be taking Saturdays off this year, because the first was on a Sunday.
Who else is involved with this, or do you know anyone who is participating?

I don’t expect to see a lot of people here involved with this, but I know there are some smart brahs here who write.

I’m into writing
I’ve been stalled on my projects for a long time
But I’m about to have a lot more free time
Maybe I should get this in my mindset so I can try to rejuvenate my old projects and actually finish one
Thanks OP, repped

I've tried this a couple times in the past and always get to like 20k words before deciding my idea is dogchit and just quitting lol.
It's a cool thing tho. I'd encourage everyone to try it at least once.

I’ve written 24,016 words so far, eleven chapters, right on schedule. I write Sunday through Friday, six days in a row, and take Saturdays off. Tomorrow should put me past the halfway point.
I am writing this by the seat of my pants, instead of using an outline. Stephen King uses this method, as did Rod Serling. I’ve come up with stuff that I wouldn’t have thought of if I had used an outline. Sticking to a word count of 2,100 words per chapter has helped too, if I’m at 1,800 words and I need 300 more, I’ve come up with good stuff that I wouldn’t have thought of if I had just wrote what I thought I should.
This story is coming along nicely!

Text-only books, I'll publish them through Smashwords - let their "meatgrinder" format the ebooks, then take the mobi file and upload it to Amazon.
For visual books, I'll put it together using Amazon's Kindle Comic Creator. If/when I turn it into a PDF, I can just use Word.
To your question in my CP, I publish under a few different pen names, but I'm not really ready to disclose them. I suppose it's possible to detective them, and if asked, I'll neither confirm nor deny

I put this one up as a joke a few months ago:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DBSVPQ4
As above, the text was done in Word, the image on the cover created in Daz Studio with some postwork in Gimp, and the text added in Gimp. It did not go through smashwords, rather it was assembled through Amazon's process.
And also, something stupid/fun I used to do here a long time ago that I'm foolishly taking up again:

I am never doing NaNoWriMo again, srs. Had and English teacher in high school who like hated my fukking guts. I was a popular athlete, hated english class, but wrekt his classes because I have an eidetic memory and I can read books in like a day srs. I would barely pay attention and I would never "read" in his class because I always already finished the book which he never believed, and we'd get into arguments about the plot lines and theme and I'd prove I did read it. I had him junior and senior year and legit this guy would go after me at every chance he got. Junior year he gave me an 89 overall, which was BS since my other grades averaged out to a 98.2 and he was deducting points for no reason. So every year for his seniors he makes a bet that if anyone could complete NaNoWriMo based on a pre-determined idea he would grade your novel and he'd give you bonus points and your grade was automatically a 90. Only a few people ever did it because 50,000 words is a lot, and it's hard to write a book based off the topic he'd give you, and also it was essentially like a 100 page paper that's due in a month. You'd get the topic on the school day before November started, and the paper was due on December 1st, and you had to do it through NaNoWriMo.
So I secretly love to read and write, but I hate when it's forced upon me by someone else, but I want a good grade for college so I figure I'll tough it out. So on October 30th at the end of class he makes the statement that the competition is open, and to raise your hand if you want to participate. So like one super smart girl raises her hand, she picks out of the jar for the topic, she gets the topic "business running with fake money". Then he's like alright that's it? And I raise my hand and I swear to god this guy glared at me so hard that I felt him melting my eyes. He holds out the jar to me and says "you know you need to finish this right? you think you can handle it? you barely do what I give you now". I'm like I'm good bro let me get one and I pull out the topic "Earth's water running low". He's like good luck with that. To sum up the rest, I wrote a story that was 60,000 words and the plot line was Earth was hit by a meteor shower, and the meteors were so hot that it vaporized and destroyed the earth's oceans, as well as some of the land. Governments immediately horde what they can with water, and the planet turns into a desolate wasteland. People thirsty as fukk trying to get water, and governments start waging war over other countries water like it was oil, but they need water to provide the troops so it becomes counter intuitive to a degree. Countries start collapsing and are disbanded and you get the whole raiders and gangs sort of thing going on, drinking blood to survive, crops failing, animals dying out, extreme heat, etc. My story largely took place in Kansas which was the middle of the US and doesn't have water near it. A young woman doing research on water and living in a faction in Kansas. She joins a group of raiders that get wind of something in Mount McKinley which is the highest point of the US. She travels there, losing friends and family to reach the top where they find the government is developing a satellite to shoot into orbit to force rain and the groups she's with tries to destroy it, and she tries to save it, and she wins although was fatally stabbed in the process.
So I submit the paper and he calls me aside and tells me that it's fantastic, and they he signed me up for his creative writing course in the spring semester and he wants to meet with me to develop my writing skills. I told him I didn't want to take the class but he's like you have real talent that you need to hone in on, and I'm like nah I write my own stuff fukk this crap. I went to my guidance counseler to drop the class and she's like you can't because a teacher locked you in, which I'm like that's BS. Then next thing you know next semester I won my schools poetry contest and had to read a poem I wrote aloud to the entire school, which was mortifying, and my friends have busted my balls ever since.
So I'm good, but will read good stories though.

"Because the thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is it’s not an adventure. There’s no way to do it so wrong you might die. It’s just work. And the bottom line is, some people are okay going to work, and some people … well, some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose.”

I finished chapter 12 out of a planned 24 chapters, so I'm halfway there! The story is going really good so far, better than I expected.
