Are people with education really better than people only with highschool?

Doesnt it seem like they are supposed to be a class higher than us and not supposed to see us as equals and they probably are because we can't even tell the truth since they are always in a different world than us, a world where people actually clean their cars and living spaces

I have a HS education. I make more than anyone I still keep contact with from HS that went on to get college degrees.

I'll keep my diploma and laugh at those with 6 figure debt for a useless piece of paper

My coworker has a Masters Degree and is the dumbest mofo I've ever met in my career field so yes. Education doesn't mean sht if you're a low IQ *******. I make twice as much as him and don't have a Bachelors.

Depends en whos doin the valuation. In todays post-capitalist hyperconsumerist world yes, people with a degree earn higher wages on average, ofthen in the services industry which generates more data. People with degrees can buy more and newer tech that generates and shares more data, so to the post-capitalist society they ARE better members of society and not a part of the future useless class.

Having said that, is a dweeb working at google "better" than the innuit capable of tracking and hunting a polar bear? or building his own shelter, making his own clothes and has 6 different words for 6 differents shades of white ? who can fish trough a ice hole or track animals with his nose alone?

Educations are just cucking programs to mold you into a productive cog, nothing more.

Probably not but all the people I know without an education make 150-200k a year and donโ€™t even have to kill themselves. But we are the lucky few

Iโ€™d still say you are better off with the education even though most people I know with an education make 30k a year

A lot of people equate formal education with knowledge.

The truth is a lot of colleges donโ€™t have to have the most up to date/competitive curriculum. So a lot of students learn outdated material with little relevance to what theyโ€™ll be doing at work. This is due to govt subsidies.

Getting an MBA is a great example of that.

The good thing is there actually is a curriculum and structure and access to labs that guide you. Aside from the piece of paper at the end thatโ€™s really the only benefit I see. Networking use to be but currently everything is virtual so even that is a bit out the window.

From a pure knowledge perspective you can easily take online courses for free, see curriculums and make your own schedule. You can pay and have assignments grades and take tests.

It really is the good will hunting quote about dropping six figures on knowledge you could obtain for a few bucks in late fees at a library.

But you have to be capable of studying with no one forcing you to do it and no/little upfront investment as well as no real peer pressure.

I would argue that all degrees are overvalued for your expected ROI. The exception being STEM degrees since even if you went through all of MITs free courseware and taught yourself everything no one would take you seriously without the five figure piece of paper. You could build your own business instead and be a gazillionaire but thatโ€™s a riskier route for sure

Trades can be much more lucrative and I suspect that will continue to be true depending on whether or not the skill set can be automated and whether or not there is a business case to do so. Depends on what kind of skill a person is trying to learn/use in the world to contribute to society. A different amount of education is needed for every skill.

Networking is still a thing with certain schools. Specifically top 100 schools in the US. For example, I'm in the middle of my masters at a school in DC and they are a huge feeder school into Government. I just had an interview yesterday with US house of rep and have an interview with CIA (No troll, STEM related job) and these positions weren't open to the public..

What you said about learning online is true, you can learn it online but cementing that knowledge takes studying and dedication to really know your craft, and this is where colleges excel. One thing that is absent in learning from free online courses is that there are no deadlines and no pressure and no one forcing you to critically think. That is also where college/universities shine. Oh and my capstone project that I'll have to dedicate months to. This is pretty much why employers, especially government jobs, require a degree.

I'm not saying being a tradie is a bad thing, but they tend to live unhealthier lives and live stressful lives.

Depends where the education is from and what the no education brah did in the intervening years. Eg. it often doesn't make sense for a bright entrepreneur to slog through years of university and there are lots of low tier academic institutions that will take your money to do worthless degrees.

Absolutely not, as someone who has a well regarded degree, I can tell you that the smartest people I have met didn't go beyond highschool, and some of the dumbest are well educated.

We should give credit to people that have a skill that is useful, knowledge is valuable. But gaining knowledge takes time, and time is money, so its a bit trash.

Anyone that see's a persons total worth as based on their career or education etc is a dumbfuk anyway
