Smokers are much worse IMO. You can usually avoid alcoholics by just not going where they would be, but smokers can be anywhere and smelling chit up constantly.

I used to smoke cigs and its a nice way to meet cool people. For whatever reason when you step out for a smoke and someone else smokes it is easy to have conversations about whatever. Other people seem cold and stand off and dont like talking unless they know you. Try saying hello to somebody some time. They'll probably outright ignore you. Say hey hows it going, while smoking a cig next to somebody, they'll probably be a cool easy going person. I can always tell who is a smoker by the way they act.

i remember my opinion when i was a straight edge.

at least with alcohol, i was wrong

i thought once you drank you became this completely different person, couldn't control it, etc. therefore everybody that drinks alcohol is an "alcoholic". completely glossing over the fact that you can control it. ive never had a problem controlling it. i've drank two days in a row twice in my life and one was at a bachelor party

it can be used to take the edge off slightly. for someone super stressed, having a few drinks is beneficial

it's funny because i'm willing to bet those holier than thou's are the exact ones that need it

I have however dated a borderline alcoholic and that wasn't fun either lmao. Oh to be dumb and early 20's putting up with BS.
