Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Brahs...(GTFIH)

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, along with the governors of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont and Connecticut, plan to meet over the weekend to discuss potential policy coordination to address surging cases of Covid-19.

Cuomo announced the planned meeting Friday as rules to close bars, gyms and restaurants at 10 p.m. go into effect in New York. He said during a press call that the governors would not be announcing any additional measures to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus until Monday.

In New Jersey, Murphy signed an executive on Thursday order allowing municipalities and counties to shut down nonessential businesses at 8 p.m. if they choose. That order came the same day new restrictions took effect to combat the rising caseload, including a 10 p.m. curfew on indoor dining and a ban on all indoor interstate organized sports up to the high school level.

Why it matters: States across the country are seeing rising rates of coronavirus infections, and health experts are concerned about additional cases after Thanksgiving and other holiday gatherings. New York has thus far mainly imposed somewhat targeted restrictions in areas with the highest positivity rates, but additional restrictions are possible.

“We believe we’re going to have to be taking additional steps and to the extent we can share information and align action we'll do that," Cuomo said.

Details: Cuomo said he spoke with Murphy and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont on Friday about ensuring the alignment of policies around bars, restaurant, travel quarantines and in-home gatherings.

New York reported more than 200,000 tests on Friday with a 2.6 percent positive rate. Total hospitalizations are at 1,700. The only policy change announced on Friday was easing restrictions in Rockland County, which has been moved to a "yellow" zone.

In New Jersey, meanwhile, Murphy announced on Twitter on Twitter that the state had recorded 3,399 new positive cases and 28 more Covid-related deaths. In addition, more than 1,900 people are hospitalized with confirmed or suspected coronavirus.

What's next: Cuomo said he'd wait to see whether the additional restrictions on bars and restaurants, which have to close at 10 p.m. to indoor dining starting Friday, and the 10-person gathering limit have any effect over the weekend before imposing additional measures.

Pretty much. If they were interested in saving the elderly they would have funded a 0 contact plan for seniors to have their food, supplies and medicine delivered at home and they would NOT have executed the elderly in nursing homes by moving COVID-19 positive people into them.

They played this perfectly. They are crippling the economy while intentionally failing to protect the elderly resulting in enough deaths to justify the economic shutdown.
