I wouldn’t give up being a tradie for anything

BRB don’t even have to workout to keep in shape

BRB we all get regular poon from officels wife’s while the husbands work away from home.

BRB earn what I like on the side

BRB actually have work friends rather than being stuck in my 6x6 cubicle not allowed to talk

BRB protein shakes rather than soy lattes

BRB talk about more than what we saw on Netflix last night

Serious question, what the **** is a tradie?
Non-American here
What do you trade?
I keep hearing this tradie word and keep seeing that Tom Cruize miner hat gif, but I seriously don't know
I know everybody is a ******* here
I know most are gymcels, even if they don't even lift
I understand most of the MISC has clearly huge problems

But what the **** is a tradie?
I like to learn from the mistakes of the people who take my advice.

Tradie is a slang for tradesman aka person that does skilled manual labor such as electricians, plumbers etc.

So, I'm on officecell. Been out of work 5 weeks due to medical. Will be paid 100% of my pay while off due to accruing tons of PTO.

Do tradies get PTO? What do you guys do when you're off work for a long time?

Well it is like any other profession really, if you work for a company you will have PTO. Unions are also there to protect tradies. If you are self employed though it's a whole different ball game.

I rent out furnished houses by the week to "tradies" working at a refinery. Boilermakers, welders, pipefitter, electricians, etc. They make good money, about $2000 a week. The majority of them are irresponsible with their money. They get their paycheck on Friday and blow it over the weekend. They get their per diem on Monday, and that lasts them until Friday. (I collect rent on Mondays).

srs question, do tradies have to deal with stress much? Like in my job, the absolute worst part is when the projects pile up or my underlings phuk something up and I have multiple deadlines to meet at once and I feel like there's no way I'll get it all done. Stomach starts churning and sometimes I can't sleep.

Do tradies have these issues?

The smart "tradies" have a camper that they tow behind their truck. It's their home. They can basically work anywhere in North America and not pay much for accomodations/housing. When they give up the trade, they can sell the camper.

Some do some don't. Alot of the union companies just give out a big ol vacation check each year. Ranges from 3500-11k depending on apprentive level/ journeyman and hours worked

In my experience with renting houses to tradies, the more money they make the more stress they have. Or at least the more money they make, the more they tell me about their problems.
