What the hell is happening in Seattle? Its in a nose dive.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/jaso...ownward-spiral

Councilmember Lisa Herbold argues that misdemeanor defendants disproportionately suffer from mental illness, addiction and/or homelessness. Punishing them for crimes, therefore, is unconscionable. Consequently, Herbold introduced legislation rewriting Seattle’s criminal code to offer affirmative defenses for suspects.

Merely arguing that crime was a consequence of your homelessness, addiction or mental illness could warrant a dismissal of charges. Seattle is experiencing an historic surge in homicides – the highest since at least 2008.
One fed up judge finally rejected yet another plea deal to let a homeless man with over 70 convictions go free. Judge Ed McKenna questioned how releasing him served public safety interests. Aghast that the judge put a homeless man in jail, Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes partnered with the public defender in an unprecedented media campaign to shame the judge. McKenna felt forced into early retirement.
And they're laying off more police.

I don’t understand what the end game is here.

And I also don’t understand how DAs and other lawyers, who are often 40+ years old, suddenly turn into people with the political naivety of teenagers. They are surely betraying their own intelligence and self respect.

I've thought about this as well and the only thing that makes any sense is that the politicians making these insane decisions are being paid and or blackmailed into making them.

The city is no longer wasting resources prosecuting misdemeanors.

What is the problem with this?

Why the FUKK are real estate prices still so high? Since more people are working from home, all the suburbs are now crazy, too.

So this thread isn't about QB Russell Wilsons troubles?

More control over you. More power for them. They want you to obey them. The more they can weaken the current system the better they can work to replace it with something else, something more authoritarian (this is a bi-partisan issue trust me). They have been pushing unconstitutional laws for decades so they are going to keep doing that until they can eventually replace the system completely, hence the "great reset" everyone keeps talking about.

It will be interesting to see what most Democrat cities look like in 30 years. The Bay Area is being propped up by Silicon Valley and Oakland having a huge dock but as taxes increase and criminal activity increases I fear most medium to large west coast cities may start to resemble what happened to Detroit. Especially if the larger tech companies flee to other states or areas.

Seattle is run by literal communists.

SPD officers have been leaving the city for years because they aren't allowed to do anything, have no support, and the prosecutors for the city refuse to chargr anybody.. its just now they try to make it 'offical'

This has been going on for years....

Seattle idolise Kurt Cobain, who was a liberal feminist. People there probably take his words more as gospel than in other Cities where their public figure is more conservative or whatever.

If the money ever stops rolling in, the cities would be forced to change. It's because of all the money that LA, SF, Portland, and Seattle can act like a bunch of fukktards. Even a poverty house is still $1M+.
