View from atop a 450' cell tower in 100kmph wind gusts

https://imgur.com/gallery/1N888Dr

just went up there to take a couple measurements quick, was too windy to actually stay up there and work. every gust was enough to push you right off the tower, just had to hold on tight when it hit. weather network was showing 100kmph gusts

I did not have to climb FYI, it was deemed unsafe and we were clear to stay off the tower. Myself and the foreman went up because we wanted to; it was a rush and i'm glad I got to experience it

the whole tower would sway and shake with every gust, we didn't even bother going on the booms -- they looked like they were ready to fly off they were moving so much

Wtf is 100kmph?

Kilo mile per hour?
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Legit could only watch one second of that. I used to be in denial that heights fukked with me, but I own it now. Even watching videos gives me weird pain shooting through my hands and feet. I know I'm a pussy.

if you take the climbing face there's a rail that runs all the way up the tower that you attach a trolly to that you use as a safety (hooks on to your front D ring)
otherwise we double hook (use two hooks that click on to the rail attached to a lanyard that's attached to your harness

its a rain forest, the snow melts when it rains. And it basically rains every day during the winter.

yep, any quick movement down without leaning back to unlock the safety will enable to safety lock which clings the trolly to the rail

the hooks on the lanyards have closing gates that you have press a safety lever to open up

definitely went intentionally out of my comfort zone for this one, I could have said no easily but chose to give it a go
it was a good thril

got paid my 8 today whether I climbed it or not, if you like a good rush then you would've liked it for sure

only unnerving part really is feeling like the tower is gonna collapse the whole time, which is a pretty familiar feeling for me now after doing a de-stack and bunch of new stacks
