Was unaware there was setup or adjustment required. I plugged it in and turned it on, am i doing it wrong

Go look up your TV model on rtings.com
They have great guides for that. It's what I used to setup my 75" Samsung Q70R and I fukking love it.

I actually dont have one yet. But plan to get one before i snag a ps5 or xbox series x.

Ive read the guides before. I just always wonder why when you tske a tv home it never looks as good as it does on the showroom floor.

Do you mean calibrate it? That really only matters on decent quality sets. Your low end $500 TV's aren't worth the cost of having a professional calibrate it. Not the *******s at Geek squad, I mean a real pro. You'd be better off posting or searching in avsforum or something similar since most people here probably don't appreciate video quality like that.

Usually the content they show is for demo purposes and most actual content isn't made with those specs, so most content wont look as good.

But as someone else said, use rtings.com for their guide and see if you like it...you can adjust it from there....Everyone has their own preference so no single guide may be what you prefer or like.

These. There are plenty of guides to show you how to do it or at least get close. It's like hiring a personal trainer to tell you how to bench press. A quick google search would give you the same info and save you $.

I usually start with the recommendation I fine online, then make slight tweaks to please my eyes specifically, as all living rooms are a little different (viewing angle/distance/light exposure etc).

This. In the age of the internet you should be able to calibrate your tv without having to hire someone...but have never done it myself. But plan on getting a new TV next year.

But using your tv like it is straight out of the box is a mistake from what I've read and heard if you want to get the best picture quality.

Most newer TV's actually have a showroom/store mode on the TV that uses the optimal settings for a particular video that showcases the TV at it's very best. You obviously won't be watching demo videos all day on your TV so you need to calibrate it for your viewing/lighting situation as well as usage.

Alternatively, there are DVD's you can buy that will walk you through calibrating yourself

Find your TV on rtings.com and follow the calibration instructions. It takes like 10 minutes.

I can't even tell the difference from shyt tvs to good ones unless they are side by side. I learned my lesson to by bigger low end models.
