Looks like your typical new age movie about ghosts...

Why do they not make anymore monster/creature movies that are actually scary...

Never heard of it. Seems like another demonic possession movie, which I'm not opposed to but I feel like the premise could be more original. The trailer looked alright tho, might give it a shot.

What is it with lower-middle-class white families? Can't they just have a normal non-supernatural existence? You wouldn't catch a black family or Hispanic family looking all morose and foreboding. Ain't nobody got time for that sh*t!!

Trailer is intriguing. I liked the blonde in Sneaky Pete.

This was awesome, and I agree. Everything was so well glued together - I feel like a lot of movies nowadays are short stories that have been tediously stretched out to 90 minutes, and therefore only deliver a snippet of a proper movie that you'll forget the same night you watch it.

You'll be remembering the Ritual for a while, absolutely top tier.

I thought Midsommar was brilliant. Same director from Hereditary.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8772262/

Two lesser known budget horror that stuck in my mind after were:
"Resolution" and "the Endless". They follow the same storyline.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1977895/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3986820/

For something completely different, "the Wailing" was also an interesting take on horror, korean made.

There's a Russia film, subtitle, called Sputnik on Hulu.

Got an Aliens vibe to it. Good story.
