What treatment are you waiting for? That's a stupid wait for anything but I'd be pissed if I had to wait that long for something painful. I've had to make two "next day" appointments with my dentist and one same day walk in so far this year. Longest I've had to wait for anything is about two weeks and it was only that long because I had to wait for the permanent crown to be made and it was that long until the same dentist who made the impression was available on a day I had off.

Yes employer subsidized. I pay 20% of the premium, my employer 80%. Health insurance is a 1500 deductible per person with a $3k out of pocket max. Co-pay is I think $30 for specialists. Dental is $1250 coverage at 75% coverage per treatment with no cost for routine cleanings.

This is complete bollocks. I book an appointment whenever I want and walk 15 minutes to the dentist, like it's usually a same day appointment if I take the first available, maybe a week if I'm fussy about the time of day.

I *do* have private health cover, but in Australia they don't ask that when you book so it makes zero difference to wait times. Check ups + clean is bulk billed anyway where I go.

It's not 12 -> 18 months unless maybe you live in some dump in the arse end of nowhere or you need a whole load of surgical work done that you can't pay for.

I pay 460 a month for just me. With a 5,000 dollar deductible, 70% -80% coverage. No vision, no dental coverage. Brb teeth cleaning every four months 300 dollars, prescriptions are still almost 100 dollars a month too

This is on top of the 40k in taxes I pay each year

I pay fk all for highest tier singles private health at $90 per month in Aus.
Should start looking at another provider OP. They should have some rebates in your state, mine was dropped from ~$130 a month

My healthcare premiums, including dental and vision are completely subsidized by my employer. Feels good mane.

I still have deductible, but OOP max is like $4k.

Can't find a dentist here that will see me apart from private which i can't afford.

Two cracked teeth, at least one cavity. Going to end up having to have teeth removed which affects ones facial aesthetics. So much for U.K'ers being entitled to NHS dental care.

**** the government for not treating teeth like any other health issues.

Problem solved and multiple new problems created. Shrinking jaw, reduced aesthetics, teeth shifting out of alignment. Having a tooth out is way more of a big deal then people try to make out.

Dental is not covered by Australian medicare in the first place so what do you expect? I think in some circumstances you can get access in hospitals if you wait ages but its limited.

My private health cover is like $340 a quarter and I get major dental covered and 2 free dental cleans a year plus a heap of other sht

Interesting. Dental and vision are covered under american medicaid if the problems are related to the qualifying disease. My niece has both under her medicaid because her qualifying disease, NF, is affecting her vision and her teeth.

My daughter, on Medicaid for CF, is covered by my plan through work since her CF doesn't effect vision or dental.

no. They aren’t on a company plan. I just give them 330 bucks a month and they go through the market place. I only have 4 employees

huh - you don't need private health insurance to see a dentist, also - if you are paying 200 a month for that in Aus you are either a one legged diabetic fat kunt wiht heart problems and a family history of stroke and heart disease at a young age... or you are being ripped off.

Around here all dentistry is paid for the consumer. Unless there is some diagnosis, in which case it can be reimbursed AFTER a its all done, and after a ton of paperwork (so you still pay yourself)

Premiums with dental cover start at less than $100 and you get a government subsidy depending on your income.

Routine dental no (but then who cares about routine teeth cleaning) but surgical items are covered on Medicare. There are for example MBS items for getting wisdom teeth out and maxillofacial surgery. Also the anaesthesia for the surgery is covered. I think when my wife went under general to get 4 wisdom teeth out Medicare covered around 2/3 of it
