Is it true that Americans and Canadians do not use kettles?

For boiling water and instead use the microwave for a cup and the hob for anything more.
Legit think it is a cardinal sin not to have one of these and a box of tea bags in a british household.

What's a kettle? We lazy Americans rely on Starbucks and Uber Eats and Keurigs to do the work for us.

I have an entire tea drawer, multiple samovars and tea sets, but I definitely use my Keurig for hot water.

Must be an American thing - most Canadians including myself have kettles for tea. I’ve never even considered boiling water using a microwave to make tea.
Maybe kettles are a commonwealth thing.

When I need hot water for tea I use the hot water output tap on my Jura coffee machine. Why do you not have a coffee machine that can brew coffee and provide plain hot water as well? I don't need an entire separate appliance just for hot water, what is this the dark ages?

I have an electric tea kettle and drink tea every day.
By the way, the British actually have no idea how to drink tea properly. Tea bags are terrible. They are the instant coffee of the tea world. Loose leaf tea is infinitely better and the only way to really appreciate tea. It's not even that loose leaf tea is always amazing, it's just that tea bags are awful.

More people don't own them rather than own them imo.
Its the best investment. Cooks oats just as fast as microwaves, and can help speed up water boiling time if you're making rice, pasta, etc.

I’ve rarely seen one in a Canadian sink. Like even in really nice houses.
We just use a strainer thing that collects the food and you just throw the food out. Kinda gross for sure.

I hate collecting food in a strainer and throwing it out. Disgusting.

they work better on the european 240v grid, in the US we're on 120v so we're stuck with literally half the wattage so it takes twice as long
i know canadians have them but they're canadians

We use stove tops to boil water because electric plug in kettles are restricted by power output. It's not a big deal
Most of us do have sink disposals (aka garbage disposals).

I use an Ibrik but that’s about it if you want to consider that a kettle. My stove boils water in 60 seconds so that’s all I need.

I'm American and I've never boiled water in a microwave other than to make hot cocoa or to heat water for some kind of **** instant coffee or tea where there is no stove.
The water coolers and the coffee machine put out near boiling water instantaneously in the office.
Again, usually it's the stove.
