Fuark, brah, mirin. Your dedication to the arts, learning and self-improvement is very admirable. I remember you saying that you're a multi-instrumentalist from a thread a couple weeks back. I've been playing guitar for two years myself and I can definitely say to others ITT that you'll surprise yourself with how much you can learn in a year or two. I'm still far from good but I've improved a lot.
OP, do you ever sell or donate your paintings? I know that's not the point of artistic endeavors but it could be a decent way to supplement your income. You could even consider teaching. I read about a company that teaches and certifies instructors in the Bob Ross painting method and then essentially licenses them to go out and teach.

Mirin hard every time you make a painting thread. Winter drags on a bit long for me these days but a fresh snowfall in the woods really is the best. Heading to deer camp later, no snow yet this year unfortunately

not bad but those bob ross style landscapes don't impress me at all. the proportions for the trees and fence are off, and the colors are boring.

Great job! I actually really like the tree work. For the smoke, the easiest way I found was, unfortunately, needing to let the first base layer of oil paint dry for a week or so first. Then use a very small amount of titanium white and blend it out with a very fine/soft blender brush. You can really push a small amount around to get the affect you're looking for.

Love his work with rays of light too... really cool. My next one is going to be an autumn themed forest with a cabin and light coming through. I really want to learn how to paint, so far I only do drawing (aside from a few paintings of fish and clouds lol). What did you start off with when you learned? Did you focus on any techniques?
I dont even know which brushes I should get for starting off. Flat...round...fanned? Size? And recommendations?
