The universe could be infinite and have no life
The so called universe (assuming it exists), could just be an infinite number of planets and stars with none of them containing any sort of life-form what so ever. Imagine having an infinite piece of paper. On it you can draw as many lifeless planets as you can. None of them has to contain any life. We could be alone in this so called universe. Or we could be in some type of simulation.
There is no solid evidence that the uiniverse exist tho, since no one has experienced the so called universe directly. We experience the universe indirectly through a so called brain and sensory system. No one has actually been out there, we´re just experiencing it from IN here.
Grasping infinity is not easy for the human mind. Connect with infinity, but to do that you have to remove yourself from the equation. There is no borders, so there can be no border that corners off the universe, can be no edge of the universe, because borders is all made up.
Since the universe is infinite because how can it not be, when there is no border to seperate it from other. Space and time loses meaning.
THEREFORE, any sort of space exploration and such is completely meaningless and uninteresting to me. So what if we find other civilizations and water on other planets. So the fukk what? It doesn´t change anything at the ground level. Okay, it´s a little interesting, but no matter how much we explore we will still be stuck at the same place.
There is nothing that seperates there from here, in the ultimate sense.

It might as well be the opposite. It might as well be completely lifeless. An infinite void of nothingness. The center of the universe is yourself, there is no objective center of the universe.

Boring solipsism OP, try harder.
Also, the most likely shape of the universe is a 4D hypertorus which is finite without boundary (think pacman in 3 spatial dimensions).

Can you take me to the border of the universe and show it to me? I need to see with my own eyes. I will measure the border of the universe with my tape measurerer. Thanks

The universe only exists in your mind srs along with everything else. It could be infinitely big with zero life but it is still being generated by your mind

There is most definitely life elsewhere.
Now is there ** intelligent ** life? That is probably very, very, very rare.

You may be right. You may also be completely wrong. We'll likely never know, but it certainly is fun to discuss the possibilities.
I personally find it rather silly to BELIEVE we are alone in this (possibly) endless universe, containing BILLIONS of galaxies.

Imagine being so arrogant you KNOW there is other life in the universe. A universe no one even has experienced directly. You don´t see the universe and neither does your brain. The univers is just a concept, and so are aliens, solar systems and stars. There is no proof of either one, but you *******s cling on to your belief, like it´s life or death.
We actually don´t know if there are billions of galaxies out there, as images have shown. It´s just a rumor told to you by other people that themselves are not objective. Those supposed galaxies can be gone now, for all we know. Or is someone observing those galaxies right now in this moment from an objective set of eyes. They could all have vaporated by now, for all we know.
I remember showing this video to a girl I dated back in the day. Amazing video, but makes me cringe when looking back at it. This stuff doesns´t ressonate with most people, I guess.

There could be intelligent life somewhere that is way ahead of or way behind where we are.
There could have existed advanced civilizations that no longer exist.
There could and most likely will exist new civilizations that have yet to evolve intelligence.
All of these things are so highly probable that it would be almost impossible to say there is not intelligent life elsewhere.

This "so called" thread is so called.
Part of space exploration is to find another liveable planet to protect the human race in the future. Often times pop culture makes aliens seem ancient and advanced. What if humans are the first and will one day be the ancient race patrolling the universe?
Is there other life? I think the odds are very likely. Intelligence is something else.

We don’t know for sure about life elsewhere. But with scientific progress, maybe we will one day. Life elsewhere, especially intelligent life, will be the ultimate blow to anthropocentricism. Mankind’s belief in a universe centered around himself has been slowly degraded over the past several centuries starting with heliocentricism.
The rest of your post about galaxies, as well as the OP is mindless babble, which is not surprising since this is the mindless anti-science poster from the corona threads.

And there is pshycology behind it to why people cling to that beleif, it´s not only about probability. It´s a defense mechanism of the human ego, to try to fill in the gap of the unknown. To try and fill nothingness with somethingness. It´s because of fear. Fear of nothingness forever
Science is an expert in finding casuality in a dream world. A dream world which has no stability, because it could be all over at any point. Sure, they have a supposed long time period to learn from and see patterns from. But that time period is actually very short in the grand scheme of things, and it´s actually an illusion.
Science is based on a bunch of assumptions, which can´t be proven true. But, it´s good I guess. Just not true

You are a poverty philosopher.
The human mind is an expert in contructing something out of nothinig, and always seek to do so. It´s useful to our survival, but such contructions, like the universe, can´t be proven to be true. The universe is a concept, and you can build more concepts on top of it, like how that concept is shaped.
Thats what science does. Just building out theories and concepts on top of another. And constructing so called truths out from those concepts. Come up with a concept that can be backed by"facts", laws and logic. Find a casuality, empiric evidence or whatever and baaboom. You have a theory that can get accepted by others, and maybe be useful. Doesn´t make it ultimately true, because it started out from a flawed perspective. Just makes it as true as it seems, but since it doesn´t rest on the ultimate pillar of existence, it could break down at any moment, and thus no longer have any relevance.
That concept just has consensus, and can partly temporarily be proven to be true, if no laws change. But those laws, like gravity, could change at any moment, and thus prove the theory to be false.

Attempts have been made to estimate the probability of intelligent life, such as the Drake equation...these attempts are in no way exact though.
We don’t know anything about ET life for sure. But since there are an estimated thousand billion billion stars out there or whatever, it would be foolish to claim Earth life is alone with any kind of certainty...
