How much do you care about longevity? Out of 5 (Poll)
In the sense of a long life...
There is a lot of information out there on the bluezones(The handful of areas in the world that have the highest density of centenarians) and their specific diets. Typically its high in beans, whole grains, fruit, veg, and nuts, while being lower on meat and dairy.
What are your vices?
Do you make decisions today with the intention of that decision potentially prolonging your life?
Do you have interest in seeing your kids or grandkids growing up and still being able to kick ass at a high level while they grow up, giving them a great example and standard on how to live by?
Do you want to be the example for your wife when she thinks its okay to just LDAR because she now has a ring and a kid?
Is your diet more for building muscle or for eating healthy?
How important is cardio to you in comparison to gymmaxxing?
What kind of liquids do you drink throughout the day?
We all have different opinions on this. Longevity usually comes at the expense of balance, which is where I stand.
Live fast, die young?
YOLO + You can technically die any day?
Advances in modern science and high level of income?
Genetics > Everything?
No care to live to the max you can?
Just some of the things to think about when you answer....
I'm a 4, probably 4.5. I want to live a long time, but gotta risk it sometimes.

IMO it's really about maintaining quality of life.

I don’t expect to live a long life. If I do, who cares? Why does it matter? If I could live a long life, it would only be worthwhile if my health was optimal.
The sad fact is that we all die from something. Either we get unexpected cancer in early age, or die from some accident...or we live long enough to fall and break our hip and can’t move for months and die from pneumonia at age 86.
Welcome to being a Human. We have the worst of it because we are aware of everything.

1..
I don’t understand the obsession with living as long as possible. Most of you don’t even do anything with it.
Literally just hanging around to draw more breaths.
If you were actually working on accomplishing something I could understand but most people have wrapped up any endeavors to accomplish stuff in the middle stages of life and then float the rest of the way.
Real talk, there’s too much bullsh*t and drama to want to live long. I’m cool dropping dead in my 50s tbh. Hell if I went tomorrow I wouldn’t even be upset about it.

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

From interviews I've seen with centenarians, they possess a profound sense of purpose even after they have lost everyone. Their QoL can't be defined by possessions or even experiences. They live extremely simple lives, but have a high level of faith that everything is going to work out as it should. Its almost like they blue pilled themselves or simply have an unwavering viewpoint.
It makes me think if its possible that people will continue to live longer than they already do. Life was so much simpler back then, and by comparison, life cant be too much different for them compared to when they were growing up in the 1940s...outside of being 70-80 years older that is.

Centenarians now did not have the knowledge nor the access to knowledge that they do right now. It was plenty of whole foods, blue pilled living. Even with science, it will be hard to see modern people living extremely long lives because they know too much.

All things equal, as long as quality is roughly where it is now, I would rather have the option to persist and not die prematurely. But in terms of delaying gratification or prioritizing things around long term health vs. enjoyment, I don't care very much. I'm also not one who fantasizes about retiring.
I do calculated damage to my health to optimize the utility I get out of doing so.

I do not really think of things this way.
I think of the optimal pathway I want as fairly straightforward, and I enjoy the process most on the pathway best for my future. I would not want to not enjoy the journey. This does not involve degeneracy. It involves conscientiousness and legacy.
I suppose seniority with less responsibility sounds desirable. I do care about a leadership structure to allow longevity, without a failing economy, war, etc.
Socially, life seems to motivate this. I do not take the same risks I took as a child. Shutting down your test I think leads the known methods of life extension. If anything, I'll hop on rad or trt after a while. I do try to buy great insurance before investments, if this says anything about me.

If you asked me about 3-4 years ago would have been a hard 1. Now I’d say 3 as things for my future are looking up and I could see wanting to be alive longer than 30. That 3 would become 4-5 If my current plans for the future in the fairly short term come to fruition (no homo)

Vices would be beer. Liquids I drink on the weekdays though are water and tea. I'll do a waterfall of soda here and there just to get a taste and The last canned soda i had was on my bday. But soda been out the rotation for years
Not interested in Kids or Marriage
Diet i try to keep 80/20 with a lil of "If it fits macros" here there and low carb. But the diet's healthy whether I'm cutting or bulking.
Cardio and Lifting go in hand to hand miss me with the bloat bullchit. I've added in jump roping in my regimen so I'll mix between treadmill and jump roping throughout the week. When gyms were open I mixed in treadmill and swimming.
You can technically die any day yea but for the most part, living life on YOLO crew aka Sprint crew vs living life like a marathon(setting up goals that'll take 5-10 years), the marathon runners usually win. The YOLO squad are the ones popping out kids in their 20s, got baby mommas, fat asses, etc, aint did chit in their 20s
Im trying to be in my 80s and 90s but i think technology will be so advanced that you can look and feel like you'll be in your 40s-50s at that age, not even counting collagen, retin-a, skin supplements and lifting and diet.

While I am not living live in an ultra passive way to maximise my lifespan, I do want to live forever and it is my singular goal.
COnsider for a moment that all the stress and pain in life are directly linked to the fact that you will die, likely in under 100 years.
- You work a job you dislike because there is a clock counting ,so you need to make X money if you want to be able to retire at a certain comfort level, X money to get a high quality woman, look after your kids so they struggle less than you ect.
- If you had an infinite time to accumulate wealth, and in turn build passive investments you would likely do a job you love even if it paid less
- You settle or stay with someone you dont love anymore because you have limited time and diminishing prospects as you get older.
- You are more risk averse because the older you get the less room there is to recover. Which is why so many people are employees rather than entrepreneurs, and why most successful entrepreneurs started very young.
- You need to choose to invest rather than spend more, including traveling less, enjoying your wealth less because you could die at any time
