lol yeah i noticed that too. no "indoor dining" BUT if the establishment creates a tent outdoors you're good to go.

We all know it's goofy, the government fuked this one up from the jump but it is what it is.

No, if it’s an enclosed tent it’s no different than a building. This means the laws were written poorly (I’m sure they were, they were all written in a rush), they are being broken, or not enforced - or likely all.

My favorite is how the lawmakers are taking it to the next level and creating temporary road and sidewalk closures to create room for outside dining as well as temporary suspension of the rules that outlaw those types of tents on the sidewalks

While I dont disagree with the sentiment. One can make the choice to avoid indoor dining, and still contract the virus from someone who has been less careful.

It's all hypocrisy when something as straightforward as a global pandemic is politicized. Defiance to ANY common sense is the game. Just another shining example of how fcked up government makes things and there are people out there that want them to have more control, it's all baffling.

Supposedly the tent is supposed to be open on two ends to cause air flow - we've had people fined without it, but nobody is following the rule at all.

I feel terrible for restaurant owners. They aren't the problem. We had several Diwali parties busted here with over a hundred people in each one and zero fines for anyone, yet restaurants and gyms are being fined if they step slightly out of line. It's getting ridiculous.

If I owned a restaurant I would be switching to takeout only, downsizing to a smaller location if possible and laying off most of my employees. No sense going deeper into debt and even with a vaccine on the horizon would not be banking on it. Restaurants are about the experience, but the virus has ruined all hope of what restaurants envision their experience to be with all this nonsense. Maybe focus on how you can make takeout a better experience by including items that create the ******ce or quirk of the restaurant at home. Not sure what that might be, fake candles that flicker, playlist on spotify that you might be playing at restaurant, or whatever quirk made your restaurant what it is and incorporate that into a takeout package.

Around here (Chicagoland) some places are in full fuk it mode and staying open anyway. Cant go out of business twice.

I went to this absolute cracked out dive bar after my round of golf on Saturday. Within 2 mins of walking in some slack jaw hillbilly was making gay comments cause we had on polos. Just laughed it off and took his lunch and dinner on the pool table.

80% chance that place was a covid breeding ground. Now everybody i come into contact with this week is at risk do to my drunken decision making.

In my defense I get tested 2x a week.

But I live up north, and don't see how that's practical. BRB having dinner in December when it's 30 degrees, getting pelted by 40mph gusts. We had some really great local spots close around here. Generational establishments at least 40 years old...Those really hurt.

Quite a few.

Only 1 that had anything more than mild cold symptoms. That guy ended up hospitalized for a few days, something related to his kidneys. Was related to a pre existing condition.
