Ken Jennings to host Jeopardy! following Alex Trebek’s death

The GOAT is returning to Jeopardy!

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1248722
“Jeopardy!” record-holder Ken Jennings will be the first in a series of interim hosts replacing Alex Trebek when the show resumes production next Monday.

Producers announced Monday that Jennings, who won 74 games in a row and claimed the show's “Greatest of All Time” title in a competition last year, will host episodes that air in January.
Ken’s original 2004 run was a staple in my household growing up. Every night we watched to see how much money he could make and how far he would go. That man’s depth of knowledge is insane. Seems like a genuinely good guy too.

I think he’s a good choice. The idea of rotating guest hosts worries me though.

The guest host thing is probably like a live audition to figure out who does the best job.

Pretty cool to have a master like him running the show but I wonder who will take the show permanently?

Yeah I remember being mindblown @ how much he kept winning. It's actually a very good choice, and I hope he's charismatic enough to stay on permanently.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

As a religious Jeopardy watcher, I like the choice. Ken Jennings seems like a natural fit. The knowledge, but also just enough wit, personality and charisma to fill the spot.

Possibly my favorite Ken Jenning clip:

Another great Ken moment was going up against Fred Norris on Howard Stern a few years back:

It's just a live audition until they settle on someone. Ken has been speculated about for a long time to be host, but I actually think it's a poor choice. Ken is the main draw for all the special tournaments over the years: Ultimate ToC, Watson, Battle of the Decades, All Stars, Goat Tourney. If he becomes host, he loses ability to participate, so the show loses that huge audience draw power -- and acting as host won't come close to the effect he has participating.

I dunno, he sometimes comes across as a pretentious prick but maybe that's just me.

I was hoping for someone like Anderson Cooper.

-Doesn't want a pretentious prick hosting Jeopardy
-Suggests Anderson Cooper

Ken Jennings seems like a reasonable pick. To be fair, it's an impossible task to replace Trebek - it's unfortunately just not going to be the same.

Yeah replacing Alex is impossible, just hope Jeopardy doesn't go the way of Millionaire after Regis left.

Dude lived nearby to a cafe where I worked in uni in the suburbs of Seattle, WA and came in from time to time. Talk about a motherphucker who was completely unable to adapt to being even a minor celebrity.

I love Jeopardy! and watch it whenever it's on, so naturally I know Stone Cold Ken Jennings. Finally saw the dude when I was on a break and said like two sentences to him in passing (he was on the go, not like eating a meal with his family or whatever) and I swear to God he was the most autistic phucking dude I've ever spoken to in my life.

The host of Jeopardy! needs to have that Canadian charisma like a Trebek or a patagucci and Jennings sure as phuck ain't got it.

Remember, Ken isn't a permanent new host. Just a guest host. There's a giant push for LeVar Burton.

I auditioned for Jeopardy! twice and was in the contestant pool for the 18 months following that. I was really hoping for a chance to meet Alex. Unfortunately didn't get the call either time. My latest 18 month window just ended, so I'm eligible to try to land another audition.

That’s pretty awesome brah. I hope you make it next go around srs. Semi-surprised they don’t pay for appearing contestants to come to LA tho.

I actually don’t think LeVar Burton would be a bad choice at all. He’s a gracious, intelligent man with a great speaking voice. I grew up watching Reading Rainbow so maybe I have a soft spot, but I think he’d do a fine job. But I still prefer Ken.

Still either of them are better than the other potential hosts right now. George Stephanopoulos, Alex Faust, Ryan Seacrest and Laura Coates can all GTFOH.

"However, even though you pass the test,..." strong grammar from jeopardy folk

One of my favorite shows, but without Alex I dunno man. I wouldn't be against completely retiring the entire show.

Yah I’m done with it.

Ken is not a good pick, he’s odd af and has no business hosting a game show

Very true, I just think doing a show like this is too demanding of his time at his age. Guy did TNG, that was probably enough grueling TV for him.
