What does the misc think about investing in a PELOTON bike

My family at thanksgiving couldn’t stop talking about it and insisted I get one, despite none of them being particularly in great shape

What does the misc think?

Stationary bikes are meh.
I think a proper heavy punching bag, rowing machine, and cardio rope climbing machine are more fun

IIRC, you said you ran a 5k in 18min?

What on earth will a peloton do for you in this case, especially if recommended by your out of shape family?

It’s good for weight loss, leg development ... overall it’s fun I give it a 9/10 if you have no gyms opened... keeps the fat away and off

I'd rather buy the "Versa Climber" or a GOOD air assault bike (a sophisticated Schwinn or Rogue).
Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.

Let's show RESPECT for the POLICE and ALL FIRST RESPONDERS by helping to keep THEM SAFE AND SOUND, and thereby able to PROTECT US!

Yea I don’t get the appeal. A lot of money to work out just one specific part of your body. If you’re a chick maybe

I would be willing to bet your family members insisting on the Peloton are the same types that use it as a $2,000 drink holder and coat rack.

i would bet my life savings that they use it for 2 weeks and then it turns into a coat rack.

I would recommend getting it. But then still only use it like once a week or whatever. Nobody wants to do cardio every day.

BRB, haven’t ridden mine since late spring. I’ll be back on it here shortly, though. Just ride my actual bike when the weather permits.

The benefits you get from it can be replaced with a pair of shoes and sidewalk. Think only fitness stuff worth the investment is a bench and squat rack with weights for home use

The mirror and other similar things just seem like something that you’ll have to always upgrade or your equipment will look outdated in 5 years.

Cause sexualized imagery is hard to find?

Wiling to bet a quick Google search i can find numerous videos of some bimbos getting butt ****ed while on a god damn Pelaton.

Poor reason to blow 3k imo.

Lmao. Nailed it.

Pelatons are basically 3k uggs. More a status accessory than a workout machine.

I’d buy a Rower over a Bike any day . Bought a C2 and move it ,as it’s more of a full body workout.
They have a fairly long footprint though if that’s an issue

Nothing more comical than spending a lot of money on a cardio machine.

Buy a cheap stationary bike or just go on walks.

Thats a little extreme. As mentioned earlier in the thread, walking on the side walk =/= hitting the assuault bike in between rounds of squats and deads.
Try that for an hour while keeping your heart rate between 150-180

Now I am not saying the Peleton is worth it. But you arent paying $3k or whatever it cost for a bike. Its entry into a "club / community"
For many, fitness is blended with social aspects of human life.

Whatever keeps people jazzed to get in shape and stay in shap, I cant hate on it....I know a lot of people with Peleton bikes, the cost of entry is not an issue for them and they use it regularly so more power to them

Cycling is one of the most energy efficient forms of self powered transport, burning hardly any calories per mile travelled and even for time spent on the actual vehicle.

Better off investing in a treadmill or jump rope

Are you an out of shape person who needs to spend $2,000 and do live classes in order to be motivated? Srs question, if you are then you should definitely get it. If you're self motivated and can do your own workout regimen, and still want an indoor bike, just spend $500 or less on a normal stationary bike.

Tbh I get that as well. Like it’s expensive but if you’re spending money on something health related (assuming you use it) it’ll almost always be worth it long run. Compared to a new computer, TV, car, appliance, etc

Just did a quick 21 mile ride on a real bike. Brb fresh air, winding roads, brb fear for my life in traffic keeping my adrenaline up. Way better than a hyped up stationary bike.

I seriously laugh when I hear people talk about getting one.

A girl I dated bought one. She once bragged about how she was the only white girl in some hiphop peloton class. I just bert stared her and was confused what was interesting about that.
Pretty sure she just used it as a status symbol.. she liked to flaunt that she made good money. Obnoxious chit.

Zwift + a trainer and a cheap bike will work better and give you much more, for around 1/3 the price.
