Amazon brahs can someone explain this to me? 190k reps

I ordered a product and paid for it. As usual, it didn't immediately get deducted from my creditcard but got put in the ''Reserve'' section.
Usually once the item ships out or arrives, amazon then fully deducts it from my creditcard and the item is paid for.

Now the item i ordered is still stuck on ''Preparing for shipment'' for over 10 days with no delivery date mentioned.
I checked my creditcard and the price of the product that was put in the ''Reserve'' section disappeared.
They also did not deduct the amount from my actual card like they normally do once it gets shipped out.

So my question is:
1. Will i not get the product i ordered since no money is seemingly being deducted and did they just not cancel my order and are letting me wait for nothing?
2. Will they end up deducting the money from my account anyway as soon as the item does get shipped?
3. Did they assume the order got canceled due to the very long waiting time, had the money removed from the automatic 7 day reserve status they put on each order, but will ship it eventually anyway hence giving me a free product?

#3 would be nice but I'm guessing it's #1. Can't imagine they'd release the bank hold otherwise.

Maybe get in touch with them directly and ask what's up? 10 days is a ridiculous time to wait for dispatch, Corona or no Corona.

No date is given. It's shipped and sold by amazon. The items are now out of stock, but they were ''in stock'' when i ordered it.
So i don't think the current status of it should affect my order, unless they sent my chit to someone else and are currently out.

I keep asking them and they keep telling me they'll keep me update by email. They don't know where it is except that it's being prepared to get shipped out.

If an actual charge is not put through for a few days it usually gets dropped off the pending charges. Does not mean the item wont ship, and you will still be charged when it does though.

i work for a bank. With us, a merchant can hold onto an approved preauthorization for up to 15 business days, and often times they wait until they have a lot in order to save on processing fees.

Previously, this time frame was 30 business days and it caused so many overdraft fees.

Don't be alarmed if you see the transaction fall off altogether- but stay mindful of the fact that your balance in online banking may not be accurate.

It's called batch processing.

It's fine. They will charge the account when they're ready to ship. Just make sure your account always has enough to pay for it because it could come out anytime they're ready. Don't want to be caught with your pants down and an overdraft
