I've been meaning to paint this one for a while and finally pulled the trigger this weekend. This one is going to be a Christmas present for my parents.

This is not an original, but my attempt at recreating a Bob Ross painting from The Joy of Painting. It had been a while since I followed along to an episode again. I've been creating originals since late summer. Overall, this went really smoothly and it was a lot of fun and really relaxing. Took me 3 hours from start to finish. A nice way to spend an afternoon.

Here it is in 2 different types of lighting - natural, and with the room lights on. The idea was that the scene would inhabit a blue vignette of sorts.





I may also come across as a broken record when I say this, but I've only been painting for a little under 2 years now with 0 prior art experience. If you've ever had even the slightest desire to try painting, please let this thread be your motivator. Youcanabsolutely do it if you dedicate yourself a bit.

You should now start adding other stuff to differentiate from the bob ross style. like add an alien looking rock in the water, maybe add a floating apparition like in this pic here, completely changes the mood of the painting and would be kind of cool, just a suggestion

Thin sticks to thick. It really takes a while to get those consistencies right. If you keep at it, you'll get it.
