Also Messi aint winning a WC and looking at the state of Argie footie it seems they may not be doing it for a few decades atleast.

Some people here just don't grasp the enormity of this passing. One of my co-workers (Gen X, not even a zoomer) legit had to google Maradona's name, I tried to explain to others he was the Wayne Gretzky of Argentina and even that didn't quite capture his essence.

He was such a good athlete too. So quick over 5yards with unreal change of direction, was agressive, dirty, freaky ability with the ball. A true savant.

had close family friends that were a major major soccer family. like dad played semi pro in europe. both kids eventually played d1, one even played semi pro in europe too.
anyway....remember hearing maradonna's name all the time at their house. he was a god in there like he is to all of you.
i'm sorry for your loss. loving a pro athlete isn't something that everyone can understand.

I despise him cause I'm English but also think he's the greatest to ever do it in his era. You can look at Maradona and he looks amazing to this day, you go back to the Pele days and it's just absolute sh!t goals and terrible technique as the game hadn't evolved much back then.

There’s no question that Maradona was a flawed genius, but these flaws were too grave in Dapena’s eyes to warrant a posthumous tribute.
"For the victims, there was not a minute of silence,” Dapena was quoted saying by Goal.com, “so obviously I am not willing to keep a minute of silence for an abuser and that it should not be done for the victims.”
The report says Dapena was alluding to the fact there was no similar gesture during the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women.
"My teammates looked at me and laughed, because they knew I would not do it," she told Pontevedra Viva, per Marca.
”A few days ago, on the Day for the Elimination of Gender Violence, these gestures were not made and if a minute of silence was not observed for the victims, I am not willing to do it for an abuser.”
While she recognises that Maradona was an extraordinary footballer, she pointed out that “he cannot be forgiven for all the atrocities he committed”.
