34 yr old male. Trying to exit depression.

Basically Im a 34yr male. In the middle of a child custody battles with my ex after she dissappeared with my son for 5 months.

Been alienated from my son and may have had another baby with my ex fiancé pending a paternity test. I ran and rented a kitchen at a local strip club to try and make extra money to help save up for newborn baby. As well as working my normal construction job.

I am 6'2

Body fat percentage is 13%. tested by professional body Comp machine.

weight is around 168lbs.

about a year and a half ago I was up to 175lbs and feeling great working out at YMCA doing 5x5. lost all my small gains and motivations after basically working 50+hours a week at my job and stopping training.

Always wanted a home gym. Had some $hity used gear but didn't feel safe using it. recently splurged and got a rogue RML390f, Ohio bar, hi-tech bumper plates, kettle bells, gymnastic rings, some other free weights (i.e. loadable dumbbells and an ez curl bar).

Been dealing with crazy ho's and baby momma drama has taken its toll. These ho's have gotten the best of me.

I want to try and work out again but I just feel so weak an unmotivated. Currently Fapping 2x-4x times a day as well as banging girls from local trailer park and fattys from snapchat. I am aware this my be a cause of my lack of motivations I can't smoke weed because of pending child custody battles otherwise I would self medicate.

I currently fall asleep at around 3:00am most nights after Fapping 2x times atleast and reading obsessively about child custody laws and other Chit related to my ongoing custody battles. Racked with anxiety I am stuck.

Current diet is coffee in the AM, random fast food meals at lunch (mostly meat, sometimes sushi) and dinner is usually ground beef in some form, (hamburgers, tacos) with milk, OJ or dr.pepper...

I have recently purchased some whey, creatine, some multivitamins. I have not started taking them yet.

Dear MISC. what do I do? What should me my first move? I am at the mercy of the bodybuilding.com Misc thread. I will do anything to change my life and turn it around. Please be as honest as possible. I really need the help. I will do anything you guys say. (as long as its positive)

I am pretty isolated. Alot of my friends are into bad stuff I no longer want to be a part of and I want to change my life.

The first thing you need to do is make an appointment with a psychiatrist. He'll probably recommend to have you put on an SSRI (serotonin reuptake inhibit) or SNRI (norephenphrine) along with a benzo like ***** or ****** for the first 6 weeks or so.

Then, you'll want to make an appointment with a psychologist and start cognitive behavior therapy so you can learn to correct your negative behaviors that are effecting you and work on bettering yourself.

These two things really can work. I was depressed for 20 years of my life and never had the courage to tell anyone. I can tell you, when I finally did, it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I went in and got on some good medication that works (it's going to take some time to find the right medication for you).

I’m sure you know this, but the biggest drain on your life right now is the drama with the ex and the child custody battles. Everything else will be a bandaid. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it though. It’s time to change your life brah

First I would recommend waking up early. 6am. You’re going to need to fix your sleep schedule, it’s going to suck balls at first. So set alarms for 6am. Even if you’re falling asleep at 3, after a few days of that watch yourself knock out at 10pm.

Cut out the fapping. We need to direct this sexual energy into everything else you’re going to be doing. Sexual energy is the most powerful force a human has, stop wasting it on pixels and a tissue paper.

How much water are you drinking? A really great way to just get the ball rolling is by drinking more water. Carry a gallon with you and finish it every day. Not only will you feel better but it’s going to start the process of building momentum. Momentum = unbeatable

Sounds like you have all your priorities out of whack. You’re having children with women you have no relationship with, don’t really have a career path to help support those children, and you’re worried about your physique/physical appearance. I don’t even know where to begin...

OP, sorry to hear you are feeling like that.

Please don't try pharmaceutical drugs until you exhaust all natural options first.

I would recommend taking Ashwaganda, St. John's Wort and CBD daily.

Try that for a month and see how you feel.

Good luck.

Also not sure if this is a troll thread or not considering you are deep red.

I agree. I am very much anti-big Pharma. I have seen what Benzo addiction is like. I hate drugs after seeing what they have done to people I love.

Here are some recommendations I have for a beneficial mood from some dietary supplements.
[ul]
  • NOW Kava Kava is like herbal ******. One cap works to get you feeling good, but 2 is also good. It has 30% kavalactones extract which is one of the highest extracts on the market and NOW is one of the safest and most trusted supplement companies out there. I also combo Kava with the next 2 supplements for added benefit. Kava is like herbal ******. It works great for anxiety, as well as sleep.

  • Lecithin Granules This one isn't so much a mood supplement, but it has fatty acids and tons of choline and inositol - both of which can sort of help depression and anxiety if taken in large enough doses, especially insoitol (see the article I linked at the very bottom for more information), but the main reason I take it with kava is because the kavalactones bind to the fat and make them more orally bioavailable.

  • NOW L-Theanine 100mg Theanine is great for relaxation, anxiety and sleep. There's tons of good studies on it and they add some decaf green tea extract for added antioxidant benefit. The combo of Kava, Theanine and Lecithin will definitely give you a very strong anti-anxiety benefit.

  • Phenibut Phenibut is a gabapentinoid and works well for an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety med). I really only use this one in emergency situations when I have bad anxiety. I think the 250mg Nootropics Depot sells is the perfect dosage and they have a completely pure Phenibut. Other companies phenibut I've tried, I wake up with a headache the next day and super groggy, but not everybody experiences that. Here's a great old article on Phenibut if you want to know all about the science behind it.

  • Hi-Tech ****tomax is another great phenibut product. They advertise it as a GH aid, but it's really not for that. It has l-dopa in it and other ingredients that are going to chill you out really well. Just be careful with it, as phenibut can be addictive if you use it everyday.

  • NOW Mood Support - This supplement can be very helpful for depression and anxiety. It contains St. John's Wort, which is prescribed in Germany as an anti-depressant, Holy Basil Extract, Valerian, which attaches to the GABA receptors like a benzodiazepine, 5-HTP which converts to serotonin, GABA itself, which obviously relaxes you, Taurine & L-Theanine which both have some benefits for relaxation and mood.

  • NOW 5HTP - 5HTP converts to serotonin in the brain, so it's essentially doing what SSRIs are doing, just in a different method and in a different way. It's a version of the amino acid tryptophan, which you can also buy NOW Tryptophan 500mg. You can take these before bed as they will help you sleep, but you can also take them during the day to relax you and boost your serotonin levels. I'd recommend reading about all the different ingredients on examine.com and seeing which one might be right for you.

  • Pregnenolone - Pregnenolone is a neurosteroid that was recently approved by the FDA for post partum depression in women, but it can also work for people who are depressed and lonely. They have been studying it as a treatment for loneliness and it works great in some people, and some people don't have any benefit.

  • CBD Oil - CBD has been shown to have benefits for anxiety at around 300mg. I buy the 83mg from the CBDistillery, which batch tests all their products for purity, quality, and the proper dosages. I recommend the full spectrum CBD that has 0.03% T H C. It works amazing for anxiety if you take about 2ml.

  • [/ul]
But, if you're suffering from chronic anxiety, I highly recommend you see a psychiatrist and look into some psycho-pharmacological medications that can help you in your daily life. You can get a script for some medications that will help you deal with your anxiety, and seeing a psychologist and doing cognitive behavior therapy can really help too. You don't have to suffer and self medicate to try and deal with your anxiety. There is help out there, don't be to proud or too afraid to ask for it. If you have insurance, there's no reason not to at least get a consultation and see what your options are.

Finally, I also highly recommend meditation. Using an app like Headspace daily to work on your breathing will help control your anxiety and negative thoughts. Fortune 500 companies are now teaching meditation classes in their businesses, because it's shown to increase cognitive function and has tons of other benefits. It's not a religious thing, it's more like breathing exercises where you just turn off your mind and focus on your breathing and after time it can really help.

Anyway, hope that helps you out bro. Best of luck. Oh yeah, and finally, here is an article on supplements that can help with depression. So look into these as well:

This is often bad advise, although I understand why people feel this way. Supplements simply can't cure the deep, deep depression people have. The stuff is you mentioned is all good stuff, and can help, but here's a quote I saved a long time ago from crazymeds.us:
A lot of people are going to feed you lines about how you can deal with mental illness through therapy, prayer, meditation, and by taking various herbs, vitamins, supplements and amino acids, and by practicing Yoga or similar arts, by changing your diet and various lifestyle changes, and so forth. Well all of those things are really good. I do a lot of those things. Hell, I do most of those things. They are all part of a balanced mental health diet. For some types of mental illness for a lot of people those things alone may be the answer. I'm talking about mild to moderate depression, slight anxiety, moderate compulsions, stuff like that. Not being seriously sick in the head.

    Not bipolar disorder.

    Not epilepsy.

    Not schizophrenia.

Not clinical depression that keeps you in bed staring at the ceiling for weeks at a time.

Not obsessive-compulsive disorder where you're checking to see that the door is locked for half an hour before you can leave your house.

Not anxiety/panic disorder so bad that the physical symptoms are obvious to another person. Or agoraphobia so bad you can't leave your house. Ever.

Not ADD/ADHD where you can't hold a consistent train of thought for longer than 10 seconds and are a serious threat to yourself and others when trying to do anything involving, oh, I don't know, heavy objects or machinery.

Having brain cooties is just like having a visible boo-boo. Bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, epilepsy and the like are the psychic equivalents of having a broken leg from a car crash. If you broke your leg would anyone expect you to go jogging with a broken leg? Would they expect you to even try to carry on with your life before you had a cast put on it? OK, some of us have had some really sadistic and messed-up people in our lives who might make those demands, but let's not bring them into it.

So, what happens when you break your leg?

    You need to get x-rays.

You need to have the bones set.

You need to have a cast put on the leg .

You'll need crutches and/or one of those little carts to get around.

OK, now let's compare that with the psychiatric/neurological process:

Your initial diagnosis is the x-ray (although getting a fancy brain scan, even an EEG, is the true analog to an x-ray).

Getting your bones set is the painful coming to terms with your illness yourself along with any initial crisis medications and interventions.

The cast, crutches and cart are your long-term meds.

Casts itch, you can't move your leg, and trying to get around on crutches or in one of those carts is a pain in the ass until you master it; and that's side effects and the adjustment periods to meds.

Sometimes the break is so bad that your leg needs to be re-broken (ow! owwww!!! ouch!!!!) and reset and put in a new cast, that's the process of having to try other medications if the ones you try first don't do it for you.

Sometimes you need metal pins put in your legs that mean you'll never run another marathon again and you'll always set off metal detectors in airports and government office buildings and have to explain things to strangers; that's the maintenance prescription you'll be taking the rest of your life.

This is the beginning of the 21st century, we can't yet cure these illnesses, but we can control and manage them. How far out of the mental health closet you wish to come is up to you, because the stigma is still very real, but family, friends, coworkers, et al. need to know that some mental illnesses aren't just something you can cowboy up about and get over. Your brain is physically injured, and like any other part of the body that has received a physical injury, it needs the proper care to heal.
The problem that far too many people have is that they can't see the injury, therefore it is not a real injury. Well, you can show them similar injuries here. Sure, that's not your injury, unless you get one of those fancy brain scans yourself, but pictures help people understand that many mental illnesses are, in fact, physical illnesses as well. If you're the person with the mental illness and you're trying to get your family and friends to understand why you can't just deal with it and get over it, show them the difference between a normal brain and a brain with whatever it is you have. If you're the family or friends, get some understanding yourself.

So are we clear that mental illness is an injury? Good.

What do you do when you're injured? You treat the injury.

The meds are the main part of the treatment. They aren't everything. Just as with a broken leg you need to be taught how to walk with crutches, you still need to do all the other stuff like the talk therapy and the Yoga and the lifestyle changes and the new diet and everything else. But it all starts with the meds. Without the meds you're just going to keep getting worse, no matter how much you delude yourself into thinking otherwise. That especially applies to people with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, as they are the worst about not taking meds, let alone admitting they are even ill. There's even a term for it,anosognosia. It's pretty obvious what the deal about the meds is. With schizophrenia various paranoid ideations arise about the meds, or delusions about magical healings are brought to fore, or sometimes you just think you're better than the meds. With bipolar disorder it's the opposite, we often have this Nietzschean arrogance that we're better than the meds at dealing with our issues, with occasional paranoid delusions or ecstasies of miracle healing. Trust me, I've been there. I write from experience. And I'm not the only one who has been down that path.

Sometimes it's not anosognosia. Sometimes the side effects just suck so much donkey dong that we just don't want to take any more drugs ever again. Don't worry, we'll try to deal with that issue here.

If you'd rather live in the 18th century and trust your mental health to the herbal recommendations made by a patchouli-drenched clerk with a lip ring working in some vitamin shop, then this site is not for you. While the addition of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and yes, even herbs, can be helpful in achieving proper mental balance, using them alone is equivalent to just using splints to help heal a broken leg. For a sprained ankle splints are sort of OK. You've got to ask yourself, just how bad is it? Really? Sprained ankle bad or broken leg bad? Go back over your life and think about what you've done to yourself and the people around you. It's part of the 12 Step Method to Stay On Medications, Step 4: Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. You may have done some ****ed-up stuff, haven't you? Or the extent of your suffering has been so bad that it affects the people around you. That's broken leg bad my friends.

Maybe you really do need meds right now.

If so, you need the right meds. Because for some conditions, such as epilepsy and bipolar disorder, these imperfect meds are going to be life-long companions until something better comes along. For other conditions they're much more like the cast in the broken leg analogy, something that is inconvenient and a real pain in the ass to deal with, but is still temporary.

Same ex who left for 5 months with your child may be pregnant or another one?

Damn I also think you need professional help but start small by developing positive habits.
The book Atomic Habits might be a good read for you.

Make a schedule. Do not neglect sleep for no reason. If there are certain exercises you enjoy, do those most. Even if it's just 20mins or 2 lifts a day to being.
Don't respond to female drama. If any of the ones you know are trustworthy and you don't want to cut out sex altogether for the time being I'd limit booty calls to once a week. There are better ways to spend your time right now to better your future.

    1) I’d get my nuts snipped. You don’t need any more children with a 3rd woman. You’re finances and responsibilities are already going to be stretched thin.

    2) Either stay single or pick better women. You mean in the cumulative 11 years you’ve been with those women, you never saw any red flags? Are you settling?

    3) Focus on yourself. You can’t build a castle on pillars of sand. Establish a plan for financial security through a solid career. There’s a lot of technical degrees out there that pay very well. Working at a strip club isn’t going to cut it...

    4) It’s important to take care of yourself physically, yes, but at this point, I’d exercise for the health benefit, the distraction, and the endorphins. Unless you’re planning on competing or trying to attract another woman, (both not relevant to you right now) there’s no need for you to worry about body fat percentages and physical composition. Just eat healthier and stay active...that’s it.

It is a different woman I have my possible second child with. I did seek professional counseling and help at a local counseling center to deal with my baby momma drama.

    1) I dont wanna get cut. I wrap it before I tap it unless its a women I am planning a family with.

    2) I absolutely saw red flags with the second one, the first one she admited she suffered from Post Partem Depression.

    3) I currently make about $3-$4k every two weeks as well as I own rental properties. Getting $$ is the least of my worries. I am a carpentry subcontractor and highly in demand.

4). Totes agree I want to work out for the endorphins. I love bodybuilding and being in shape. I dont know anything else other then boxing I love as much as weight trains and body building. Not interested any any contest or attracting more women other then my EX-Fiance with whom I may have a newborn baby with. I just want a family and a traditional life. I have banged 50+ slots in my life and is something I'm not proud of. I just want a family.

So you have a garbage diet, a huge life stressor, probably poor sleep, etc and there are miscers in here telling you to hop on meds. Smfh...

OP if you really are serious about taking action then clean up your diet, research and implement sleep hygiene, get back in the gym since you enjoy that, and journal so that you can keep your thoughts organized. Step 1 is taking good care of your body. There is no mind-body dichotomy.

The length of time a psychiatrist would put you on a benzo is not long enough to develop a dependence. Also, you can always taper off them if you have an issue.

I would have to agree. after seeing my ex fiancé be addicted to ***** and Kolonopin and her ensuing black outs is what led her to cheating on me I am very much anti- drug.

Also Jordan Peterson, some intellectual, had to go through rehab in Russia because benzos. I do have a Buddy who is prescribed and who takes them and swears by them. I have personally never tried them.

I am afraid if I started taking them what I would be like to try and quit. I do not have an addictive personality but I am still afraid of drugs other then Tree and whiskey.

I did go see a psychologists/counselor for a few months. I absolutely encourage it for anybody. They are human beings too. She basically just told me it was ****ty luck and felt bad for me. She told me to not let them determine my self worth or let them tell me what to think.

    I was offered drugs.....

I am afraid of drugs because of having to be around so many drug addicts in my life as well as seeing girls turned out as a result of there drug addiction.

mistahAIM has some great points. with a sleep schedule, diet so wrecked as mine I need to fix it first.

You need to continue going to a psychiatrist and psychologist, not just one session. If you talk to a psychologist, asked to be put on an SSRI/SNRI (if they don't suggest that right off the bat). Those are going to even you out, it doesn't make your life any better - you have to do that, but it gets rid of the depression, the ruminating thoughts, lets you get out of bed in the morning and will help keep you from fapping 4-5 times a day.

The drugs are really very mild. It takes some time to get adapted to them, but once you are, you'll feel really even and just able to function like a regular human being.

If you're scared of drugs, that's fine. But you should still talk to a psychiatrist about it. Tell him your concerns about the drugs and sometimes they can offer alternative therapies.
