Why can't video game remakes be better?
I haven't been into gaming since the XBox 360/PS2/Gamecube console gens. Never cared about PC gaming, yeah it looks better but I was never able to get into gaming with a keyboard (even if it easier than controlers once you get used to it) or keeping up with the endless upgrades and mods. Not to mention the obsession with multi player online games with paying to win nowadays. Not my thing.
However, once in awhile, I'll hear about a classic game being remade with updated graphics. The problem is, when I look at reviews of said remakes, they always seem so half asssed. The graphics never seem as good as they could be - more like an in between quality of the originals and the time the remakes were made. That's bs. The graphics should be just as good as current standards for the release of the remakes.
Then there's the issue where they fundamentally change something about the storyline or way the game is played. Or they only release it on a handheld system like on of the Nintendo DS models. I was actually pretty interested when I heard they were remaking classic games like Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Zelda: Majora's Mask, and GoldenEye. Then it turns out the graphics look subpar for what they could be with legit overhauls for the remake release dates, they F with the gameplay/stories too much, and/or they only release them on the DS or some bs.
If they did a real remake of Majora's Mask and put it on the Nintendo Switch, I'd seriously buy the console for that alone. The game should have the graphics quality of a recent Zelda game from the past 5 years, don't F with the story/game play so much, and be released for a legit TV screen based console. Any significant mods to game play they think would be "improvements" should be included as alternate options/cheats/bonuses/, with a true "classic" mode, just with updated graphics being the base game.

Saints Row 3 remake is good.
I'mma get the Mass Effect remastered next year as well, assuming it comes out as planned.

When I talk about video game remakes, I'm not talking about the Hollywood garbage where they remake old movies and just make bs changes like making it a cast based on identity SJW politics. There is something to be said about replaying classics like the Zelda games, GoldenEye, and many other classics that came out in the early days of blocky 3D graphics, but updated to modern standards. It would give people a chance to replay the stories without having to forgive the graphics that are objectively crappy.

X also would have to track all the owners of the rights to the game, many probably already out of the industry by this time. That may explain why remakes are of games that arn't so old. You're a constant troll, but I'll respond anyway.

Team Fortress 2?
Not only probably one of the best remakes ever made, It's so good we may never see a third. As there is literally no way (That I could see) possible to make it better and be able to add a 3.
Top 5 game of all time for me (personally)

All I want form the Mass Effect remaster is updated graphics. I do NOT want any new content from Bioware. Bioware hasn't made a decent game since Mass Effect 3 (and not a great game since ME2). Knowing modern Bioware, if they add new stuff it will just be some terribly implemented sjw simulator crap.

Well remake or remasters? Because most of what you listed were remastered ports.
LoZ OoT and I guess Majora's Mask was kinda a remaster if anything. Oh and you're complaining about the graphics on those? No that was a straight up port to the 3DS. At the time those were marvels! Then look at the freaking amazing job Nintendo did for Wind Waker for the HD remaster. Then you go to Square Enix and look at what they have been doing by improving their old classics like Kingdom Hearts or some of the Final Fantasy games. The remaster got me playing FF12 again and I swore to never touch that incomplete garbage from the ps2 ever again. Hell, FF8 got a nice remastered port last year. Improved the graphics, and kept the overall feel of the original with literally nothing changed.
FF7 remake was misleading as it is more of a fan fiction sequel to the series than it is a remake.
Good remakes would be Crash Bandicoot trilogy or Spyro Trilogy. Those games were very positively received so much so it was enough to get a new game for Crash. Not to mention the Resident Evil games, and that Ducktales from the NES remaster, which is basically a remake.
There are remakes that do suck like the Ratchet and Clank remake for the ps4 nowhere compares to the ps2 version of the game especially since the ps4 was a cruddy movie tie in game. Or Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire remakes being shells of what they used to be.

There are so many cult classics that could literally be remade in a new engine and be a best seller again. Minimum amount of work for AAA game.

IMO remakes are rarely ever "great".
Theres something about the old n64 graphics that is still magical, even if you dont get nostalgia.
That, and remakes always try and add unnecessary features. "The twin snakes" added first person shooting which ruined several boss battles.
Id rather play on an emulator.
