I grew up in that area... south of I10 as a kid... and just north of the dam as a teen. I've bicycle the top of da all the way to the west park toll way many times.

That spot where her body was found is an oddly dumpy spot for the area. Used to be a weird enclave of run down houses... but then after a few hurricanes and floods its almost vacant except for a few dumpy houses that I believe are abandoned.



There is an old school (been there for as long as i can remember) fancy hotel called the Omni just a few blocks east. Had to pickup a packet for the MS150 there one time. Parked on that exact street too. When i was walking back to my car it was near dusk and there is no lighting on that road... chit was creepy AF. It's definitely one of those spots that you don't want to be in at night... nor do you have any business being there at night unless you're doing something shady or are a fkn weirdo.

Now something a bit more interesting. When they were expanding two roads (Clay & Patterson) just north on the other side of the dam years ago they found two garbage bags of human remains. I think it's safe to say that criminals or maybe a serial killer use that area to dump their secrets because its within the city and basically wilderness (coyotes, deer, hogs, etc).
