Who here cuts their own hair? [srs] [reps]

Is it worth it?

-- Lockdowns are making hair appointments a mess for me.

-- Saving 15 GBP per month and putting it away in an employer matched share purchase can actually amount to substantial money over time.

-- Already own a good pair of clippers that I use on my hairy torso and junk.

-- Timewise can be the same - it will take you more time until you are used to it but you also do not travel to a barber.

Did it look worse even after a few months of doing it? neurologically you should become more efficient after doing it a few times.

Different barbers can botch it too.

Just youtube cutting your own hair and see the ones with most views.

If it's a buzz cut. Yeah do it your self... anything more stylish i wouldn't recommend it. I switch between a buzz cut and a fade. When it's a buzz cut, do it myself.. fade hit my Dominicans up

If you aren't worried you might look bad in a buzz cut or have a weird shape head.. go ahead.. cause if you **** up, you can just buzz it all down.. and wait till it grows back

For fades. I'd go to a Black/Latin barbershop as that style of hair is more common in our communities than white ones

off come on brahs, is it guaranteed to fail every single time for a fade? tried it once and quit? It would be impressive if you nailed it from first get go, tbh. Its an unnatural thing lol.

That's not the thing.. the thing is having to walk around with a ****ed up haircut for a while. depending on how fast your hair grows back.. and a bad haircut is very noticeable.. But in this Rona Era. i guess now would be the best time to practice

I've tried it due to curiosity and the result were not too bad. These days I am growing everything out like a wild animal.

Started this recently. Just did a 2 on sides and sciccor cut to about 3 inches on top for the first few times. Now I do a 1 fade into a 2. Hard part is getting a good line up in the back and a good blend from the top to sides. Be prepared to buzz if you fuk up.

Would recommend getting some decent scissors and clippers. Hand held mirror and a decent sized mirror mounted to the wall is needed as well. Invest like $100 into your gear and you'll save 10 to 20 bucks a month so its paid off in a year at most. Clippers and scissors should last for a few years if maintained. Dont let the clipper blades get wet, lubricate them regularly and dry your scissors after use.

If you're doing any sort of fade you really need to have decent lighting wherever you're cutting or else when you get out in the light all the imperfections you didnt see will be visible

Plus if you get decent at it you may make some $$ cutting your friends.

Yeah you could buzzcut it and maybe fade it when you're a bit more skilled.

Been doing it myself for 7 years now. Took a couple of years for me to get it right, but it finally looks good
