Why do nurses want so much appreciation for doing their jobs

It seems like every day I see something about nurses are heroes, or complaining about their jobs, or thank a nurse. And now there's even medical shows about being a nurse? Two questions.

1. Is it really a bad job?

2. If it's such a ****e job, why don't they do something else?

This. Massive inferiority complex, and also they're sloots, of course they need attention. There's a massive echo chamber effect between nurses coping with each other. They'll talk all day about how dumb doctors are and how badly they need the nurses, but the moment a chad doctor walks into the room they get wet as fuk and shut up.

I had a fuk buddy nurse going into covid, after a few weeks of the hero self-righteous chit I just couldn't handle it, did a 720 and blocked her. Also both my parents are doctors for fukking down so many notches was only tolerable long enough.

This is my thought. Isnt it a really mundane job that happens to pay pretty well? What could possibly happen on a tv show about nurses that would be interesting?

Because their job is all they have left now that their looks have gone, They crave that attention they had when they were young and still glowing.

I don't go to work to make friends or get appreciation. I go to work to make money and go home.

Yea, if I felt like the pay wasn't worth the work, I would get a new job. Nurses seem to complain constantly, yet continue going in to work, like they are doing a service to the community by collecting a paycheck. If the job isn't worth it to you, move on and get something you like better.

All the blatant misogyny in this thread is lulzy. Female nurses want appreciate because they bust their ass everyday trying to save people's lives. They're underpaid, they have an extremely high chance of getting COVID, and they should be applauded for their efforts.

Here's a video about two dykes, one of them is an EMT who are having to deal with the COVID crisis.

Underpaid based on what? The average nurse salary in the US is significantly higher than the overall average salary, and generally translates to a medium-high middle class lifestyle. Everyone working in a hospital is always going to be at a higher chance of getting any number of diseases than a normal person, and it's one reason why these jobs pay higher than average salaries. Dude's working in the oil field also accept risks to their health, and those jobs also generally pay higher. However, you don't see oil field hands constantly looking for validation from everyone. Finally, an EMT is not the same thing as a nurse, and generally makes far less.

Not saying it is easy, but you don't see other people with difficult jobs posting this every day. If this is how I felt about my job, I would be looking at other options.

But this is a 100 year pandemic like we haven't seen since the Spanish Flu in 1919 where 500 million died. There's already been 1,500,000 killed from covid since it started. This isn't just some work related "Oh gosh, I can get covid, but I'll get over it". Nurses are dying from it all the time. Already 1,500 nurses have died from COVID and they are estimating the death toll could reach as high as 20,000 for health care workers.
https://www.icn.ch/news/icn-confirms...e-worker-covid

So, the nurses aren't asking you to bring them in cupcakes everyday. All they're asking for is some respect and recognition for the incredibly brave job they're doing. Oh, and btw, not all nurses are female.

Most people don’t deserve the medical care they receive, people suck, they are vile and have atrocious habits.

We are underpaid for the responsibility we carry, the medical care is a fraction of the crap we deal with. **** your recognition, pay me.

100% this. If they feel the work isn't worth it, why demand appreciation from the general public rather than competitive wages? My wife is a school teacher and they do the exact same thing. Complain about chitty pay and the public not appreciating them instead of fighting for better wages, getting a different job, etc.

Nurses put up with stuff that regular people can't imagine, at least in the ER. Old people crapping themselves, complaining people constantly, sick people being idiots. I have zero problem with them getting paid really well for what they do, because no way I would do it. Same with school teaching, although I think they are overpaid and complain way too much.

If I were a nurse I'd slide into an easy mode job at a hospital where you basically have to supervise people (like oncology) or just do things like imaging work. Can't imagine dealing with dementia patients or the ER at all.

I’m an RN, yeah we do admirable work but this field is heavy majority women so that’s why you see this bs.

Remember when the pandemic started and the attention seekers were posting nonstop Tiktoks and Instagram posts for validation and self congratulatory nonsense. I though that made my profession look bad personally.

Personally though for 2 years of pre reqs and 2 years at an CC associates program. I’m making $93 hourly, granted that’s in California (pay is a lot worse in many states) and at a Kaiser facility who notriously pay way above average. I’m happy with the choice I made.

I know some misc incels will chime in and say, “you just wipe ass!” But brahs this job can be stressful af with some really difficult situations. I do think most RN’s are attention whores though, stfu and do your job.
