Michigan Orders 12-Day Lockdown Extension

Michigan has extended an order restricting indoor and outdoor social gatherings for another 12 days, as Dr. Fauci warns that traveling for Christmas could be even more dangerous than traveling for Thanksgiving.

In extending the restrictions, Gov. Whitmer rejected the desperate pleas of restaurants owners who are begging for the governor to reopen indoor dining. Now, they will need to wait until Dec. 20 at least - possibly longer, if cases and hospital numbers have started to fall.

According to the local press, Michigan's additional 12 days will allow the department to determine the full impact of the Thanksgiving holiday on the spread of COVID-19 across the state, officials said during a news conference Monday.

The order means families are urged to avoid indoor gatherings, and only two households may gather inside. People should wear masks consistently whenever they are inside with people not in their household, officials said, adding that people should choose small numbers of people and keep their contacts limited to those.

Families are being urged to interact with only one other family over the next three weeks.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fauci asked Americans again to avoid traveling during the holiday, while adding that the risks pertaining to Christmas were "more compounded" because the holiday is longer than Thanksgiving.

Their Supreme Court tells Whitmer that her orders have been illegal since March. She decided to just have them issued by proxy through state agencies instead. Nobody does anything.

Michigan brah here. Can confirm on the ground level that people are absolutely fed up with this chit. I live in a busy downtown area, streets are literally packed Thurs-Sun evenings. Outdoor seating is packed.
