Ignored a street bagger and got harrased up the road wtf

- last night coming out of a store , there was a couple of them ( this is rampant in my city downtown )

- so instead of the typical " oh sorry " etc etc I was in no mood to speak to them so I just flat out ignored their fake niceness and kept walking

- then since I ignored them I guess they got pissed and chirped me as i was walking away and then I turnt and said " I WORK for my money " and then they basically challenged
Me to a fight , insulted me etc yelled

Wtf is wrong with them? Acting like they are entitled to my money and my response...

I'm seriously just gonna continue walking right by when I get asked because you can't go anywhere downtown in my city ( canada ) without being asked by one of them for a hand out .

In a situation like that, it's best to ignore them and walk on regardless of how much they start trash talking.

Here in Los Angeles, the homeless situation is so out of control that even cops are scared to go to homeless encampments because their numbers can easily overwhelm the cops.

Aware. That's what gets me. We have a sort of unspoken social contract with them. They are allowed to sit outside businesses and beg for money, we either choose to give them money or not then we go on our way. When they break the contract and begin harassing or even assaulting I get pissed. I was yucky with a girl I was dating and some friends one night, guy comes up, asks for money. Tell him I don't carry cash and he mumbles something about me followed by "fool" I lost my sh** and got up in his face, my gal and another guy grabbed me luckily and the dude ran off lol. I live near downtown in Dallas, the homeless guys here are a lot more aggressive than say NYC because there are less people walking around. They'll follow you and keep asking for **** til you tell them off. I feel bad for most of them but I don't know their intentions and it rustles me gud.

Good policy. If they will let me buy them food I will always do that if I have time, I've even bought cigs for them if they are cool and want those with the sandwich or whatever.

I had a buddy in high school that got approached by one after work in an alley, when he went to give the guy a couple bucks the dude tried to grab his wallet and my buddy lit him up. He had to go to the hospital and get blood tests done because he cut his hand on the guy's teeth lol.

Lady attacked my car because i told her to fuk off when she wanted money.

I was in my truck and a Panhandler on the street median at a intersection got angry when i again said fuk off, this time had to pull the bear mace can so hed back off.

Lol. I never had or heard of an encounter like that yet, but it doesn't surprise me. At least he walked away with no repercussions.

I started doubting beggars when I was 17, some chick asked for 3$ as I was going to the store so I gave it to her. 1 hour later she showed up at my neighbor's door to buy a bag.

Met some really decent ones over the years though.

I used to volunteer at the community service in my neighborhood, to build a reputation as an upstanding member of his community, so I met a lot of them.

When I would have the time I would also, as I said above, offer a meal to those who actually wanted food and I'd spend 5 minutes to chat with them. Understand why they're in that position, offer some advice like joining a 10$ gym for showers, pointing them towards chit factory jobs that would hire them, etc.

It pays off brah, some ******* actually turned his life around. He recognized me years later and told me how my action has helped him get his chit together. He ended up driving a forklift for something like 20$/hour. I can only imagine that more than 1 person have been positively impacted by that.
