been considering picking up a new sport (maybe martial art?)
so here is my pros and cons list for the things i am considering:
soccer
+ : love it, played it for years
- : somewhat time consuming, been wanting to try something new
bouldering / climbing
+ : idk, i like climbing stuff ?
- : kinda ur avg. 'consultant bro' type of sport and therefore kinda lame
boxing or BJJ or muay thai
+ : empowering, alpha, high overall health/fitness gainz
- : seems to attract weird/crazy people (srs), groundfighting (bjj) can be kinda gay ded fkn srs?
what do?

Soccer is fun as chit and great for teamwork. There is something about team sports that simply can't be replicated in solo activites: I play it for fun every other week (precovid), but I wouldn't invest more time than that. No purpose for me and I don't have a passion for it.
Climbing is sick brah, mapping out routes while you're on the ground and thinking which way would be best. Then you get stuck somewhere and have to come up with some alternative. : Did it a few times, actually thinking about joining a gym, then eventually bouldering outdoors, and investing more time once the gyms open back up in my area
Muay thai: nothing needs to be said, just fukin alpha and feels awesome. If you want to supplement with grappling take up judo/sambo/wrestling. Been doing it for a few years and I'll never stop.
edit: I'd recommend martial art if you had to choose only one

Little old for football now, if you haven’t played for years then you’re set for a good few injuries getting back into that.
Rock climbing seems fun, no risk there except for if you fall....
You can call bjj gay all you want but if you get into a fight at a bar with a couple years of jitz under your belt you can pin them on the floor and rub your balls on their face in front of their friends and they won’t be able to do anything about it.

You'll be alright. My suggestion though is to try out free classes from different gyms and speak with the people there, try to get a feel of the vibe and their acceptance of newbies. Don't just sign up at a random gym.

I did jiujitsu till my gym closed a few years back and it was awesome. The most masculine men I know were in that gym, but it was tailored more to MMA fighters. I just never got into the judo and kickboxing as much.
But the competition of physical combat is a fitness incentive like no other, and BJJ is great for stamina and flexibility.
