Moving overseas to live with my fiancee. Will my job make an issue of it if i am WFH?

Everyone in the company is working from home until mid of next year. I am going back to europe and to live with my fiancee for some months and planning on working from home there. You brahs think my work will make an issue of it? There are never any video calls, i would be working from 2-10pm so i am in same time zone also. also i can only be there 3 months before i have to return back to the USA due to visa stuff.

It depends.. they could possibly catch it through your ip address or some chit. You may or may not have some dikhead manager that will make an issue of it.

I'm considering doing the same thing.

Only thing you have to consider is equipment failure and how would you go about getting anything you can't purchase replaced.
I'm thinking total PC failure and you need it replaced by your company.

As long as you don't have anything to deal with licensing you should be fine.

nothing licensing to deal with, I'll be on VPN and all my phone calls are made through the VPN server on my laptop. Where you planning on going? Italy for me.

I told them im going for the holidays but I didn't say I plan on staying long term. It won't affect my job so I don't think it even matters if they know.. The less they know the better in my book.

This - the less people know the better.

All it takes is one coworker to go whining to management about unfair it is to ruin the whole thing.

My destination is still up in the air but I have Asia in mind..

Why should it matter. They're your employers not your daddy. Don't tell them chit and just do what you want to do.

Only thing to look out for is if they suddenly say "come back to the office!" but if you know that won't happen for at least 3 months, then **** it.

Other thing I'd tell you to potentially watch out for is if you have a work laptop that's joined to the company domain, make damn sure you do everything you can (keeping it up to date, rebooting regularly) to keep it synchronized. Don't know what other companies have experienced lately, but my business's machines these last few weeks have been very eager to drop off our domain, which is an annoying AF problem to deal with.

This. I already had that discussion with my boss even though I have no intention of moving. Are you really willing to risk your job in this economy? Life changing descision you are making here. You know its wrong, or else you would not be asking the misc.

Also, just lol if your IT department doesn't block foreign IP addresses from accesing their VPN.

Brah trust me just inform them prior that you wanna do that and that you can take care of all work related issues wfh. You dont want to receive a call asking you to come back to office on short notice and you are unavailable.
