Agreed, I miss the sh!t out of mine, she was gone way too soon. Climbed a lot of mountains with her and she always helped with a victory beer on the summit.

But smarter and faster. They use them to hunt in Africa.

Had a Malinois and he was an amazing dog.

Current dog is a Shepherd/Husky cross and is also GOAT.

GS too energetic and stubborn if not trained early on for most people. sure they are a top tier breed but you got to know what your getting in to. too many people get em that don't really have much business having one.

always been a fan of Vizlas, absolute units and very well tempered. prob the GOAT overall dog

Some downsides to the breed are -

1). Large / bully breed. A lot of landlords will not allow tenants to have German Shepherds. If you do get a German Shepherd, you need a large space for it

2). High energy level. So you gotta have time to exercise it

3). Shedding

Plus like all purebreds there are certain health risks associated with it. If you have a decent amount of land or yard and can train them they are great loyal dogs. The pitbull crowd should definitely stay away.

agreed with OP.
On a side note, it's strange, but I seem to see a lot of Asian owners of this breed.

Im going to come out and just say it, most dogs, especially German Shepherd's aren't suited to people who have full time jobs.
Just a fact.

Begs the question, are most dog owners unemployed?
I dont get it.
