Parents/siblings were semi hoarders through my whole life, not the kind with old moldy food all over but rather boxes upon boxes all over the place. They would pack their junk into boxes and keep stacks everywhere. Whenever we would move/get evicted, it meant pack whatever is around into more boxes and start fresh at the next place, this repeated for 15-20 years. This created a huge collection of boxes if you can imagine. My Mom ended up passing a few years back and it sparked the remaining family to move across the country, leaving all the junk behind with me. Except its not all junk, its junk interlaced with personal information and sentimental items. Everything needed to be gone through, piece by piece, box by box. A typical bin would be 90 percent junk, moldy stuffed animals, moldy old bedding, past due bills from the 90s. The last 10 percent would contain things like pictures, home videos, paperwork showing the entire families SSN's, ect.

I didn't count at the beginning but I would say that we starting with close to 100 boxes. It took the wife and I three weeks to go through it all and in the end we were able to condense it to 6 bins. It makes me happy to know that I was able to get through this dark part of my families past and was able to salvage a decent amount of memories along the way. So many things I thought were lost ended up in those boxes. We freed up a bunch of space too, the basement was pretty much full of this crap which meant the spare bedroom was usually full of our own crap. Now we have our basement back and the spare bedroom back. We actually have someone renting the spare bedroom starting 1/1/21 so our efforts are already paying off. This junk pile has been looming over my head for decades, feels good to finally defeat it.

Thanks brah.Nah not hoarders, id say it would be closer to the storage wars tv show. My family is the one who would leave their junk behind for it to be auctioned off.
