I can’t lift 405 so to me it’s impressive. To anyone who can lift more, it’s not impressive. It’s that simple.

Eh I'd say intermediate starts more around 365 deadlift. Few people get to 500, maybe 5% of regular lifters.

A lot of people lift for aesthetics, not strength.

Using the pareto rule, I'd say intermediate is something the top 20% can do. A 365lb dl probably puts you there.

Oh look exactly what I am talking about.

Let me guess.... Fat as hell growing up, pushing mid to high 200s lb bodyweight when you entered highschool and joined the football team. Did some working out on the team and kept your bloatlord status while gaining some strength. Got some tradie job after hs and got even fatter, low to mid 300s lb. After a few years of that decided that you dont want to get a heart attack in your 30s so you joined the gym. After a few weeks of working out and getting the movements down you pulled a mid 300s lb deadlift with back breaking form at a body weight of 320lb. "Sheit close enough to 405".

Proceed online telling everyone how you pulled 405 for your first time ever due to "farm boy strength"

edit:

Lmfaooo didnt even check your bodyspace before I wrote that but I just checked it now and what do I see

I pulled it in college, never touched a weight in high school, but had to in college as I was on the football team. 405 first time I ever pulled at 280 lbs. And yeah I let myself go after college, drugs and alcohol kinda kicked my ass for a bit but 350 at 6’8 is quite a little different than 350 for most people. That body space post is old, at 0% bodyfat I’d still weight around 250 but I must’ve posted that when I was on a whole cut to get abs plan. I’m 320 in my avi, end game is 400 with visible abs at 6’8. Long story short farm strength is a very real thing and FYI homeboy you don’t see much for fat farm or ranch kids.

Edit: I’ve got two masters degrees and am currently in law school online while operating an 800 head cattle ranch and 6 other small businesses. You’re superiority complex needs checked badly.

Depends on your body structure. For most people maybe 80-90% of a normal deadlift. If you are tall with huge hands and long legs you might actually lift more on a normal bar.

I'm of the mindset that it's more impressive to do a lot of deadlifts with good form at say 300lbs. Like rather than 1rm of 405, focusing on achieving 10 reps of 300lb, then 2 sets of 10, then 3 sets. Or any other lower weight.
When I'm at the gym my deadlift goal is to improve the number of "perfect" 225 lifts that I can do in any single gym session. The risk to reward ratio is pretty damn low once you get above 300lbs on the deads.

You don't have to snap your back to be fit.

you can hit in the first 3 months if you walk into the gym as a 5'8 225 bloatlord - for him, it's not impressive in the slightest.

its all about context

whats annoying is you go on reddit or some **** and its like "200kg DL at 63kg" ... but he doesn't inform you that he's 5'5.

Deadlifting 405 is the equivalent of bench pressing 225
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Does it feel like an accomplishment to you OP? Do you see people at the gym lifting that much weight often?

If youre doing 315+ for reps at a regular gym then you're probably pulling more than 95% of the gym goers. That's something to be proud of regardless of what we say. As much as misc likes to e-stat, when I go to the gym I never see anyone even pulling close to 4 plates. Most people don't even do deadlifts cause they're scared pussies. Don't let any 280lb bloatlord tell you it's not impressive.

To me it's good. If you can do it without straps, I'm even more impressed by your grip strength tbh.

So you got on a college football team having never played high school football while you were borderline lanklet status (280lb at 6'8). Or you played high school football and somehow nobody made you lift weights. Yea still not adding up bud.

And I have no superiority complex lmao, just dislike frauders and I have been around weightlifting long enough and know enough about it that I can spot a frauder pretty easily. No idea why you flexxing about other aspects of your life unless I struck a nerve with my other narrative. Or are you trynna take the piss and add on the CEO 10k/day misc meme on top of pulling 405 first time ever. Did you run a sub 11 second 100m your first time ever too? Right after a sub 7min mile.

Most someone has ever bench pressed is 770lbs (julius maddox)
Most someone has ever deadlifted is 1100lbs (hall/halfthor)

By that ratio, a 405 deadlift is about equivalent to a 275 bench
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

First bench being 315 is way more unbelievable to me than a 405 deadlift

And bench uses muscles you don't normally use much in real life. Like if your picking up bales of hay all day that would make your deadlift muscles stronger before you ever do it. But I don't see anything like that for bench.

Just my 0.02c, one of the most common ways people estat is by selectively forgetting prior weight training experience. Muscle memory is real and if you get real strong from lifting that strength stays with you for a long ass time. So some people will get really strong in high school, not lift in college, then lift for a month in their adulthood then be like "I got a 405 squat in only a month, why can't you pussies do the same?"

I stopped and watched a guy do a 355 lb deadlift last week at a commercial gym, lots of people stopped at watched. He was the king of the gym that day

So ya, 405 is impressive to normies

South Dakota football is pretty pathetic on the grand scale to be honest, chit coaches, no off season program, no weight room for the most part but my entire life as a bigger kid I went out of my way to test my strength in various ways as often as possible. I went on a college visit with my bro’s just to party more or less and popped my head in the door in the football coaches bullpen and I got on the team that fall. Yes my form on the bench was hideous and I imagine my deadlift was too but the weight moved. I’ve got pretty good genetics for lifting heavy ass weight, 6’8 and square built as hell. I’ve posted several of my lifts here including a 500x1 close trip bench and a 405x10 close grip bench, I’m the furthest thing from a fraud and you saying farm boy strength is cope isn’t probably totally wrong but I get the feeling you’re speaking on something you don’t know much about. Oh and FYI the fastest 40 I ever ran was an electric timed 4.94 and I don’t run miles, if I need to go that far I’ll be driving.

Impressive to non autistic normie lifters. If you spend all your time surfing internet fitness forums or go to a hArDcOrE gym it's when you go from weak tier to strong tier.

Depends how much you weigh. I think if you weigh 200+lbs, then it's not really that impressive.

It can be impressive for someone with a smaller frame. If you're a manmore or thicc, not so much.

idk why people keep listing bodyweight as a good metric of how good a lift is lol. 200lbs on a 6'6" giant is basically no muscle yet 200lbs on a 5'5" manlet is definitely roided up. Weight only matters when you include height
