Is there a point in making a wish through prayer/ ritual? Worked for anyone here?

People do a lot. They go to churches, mosques, write their wish and stick it to the wall. Some people here write their wishes on the shore and let waves 'take it away' on a special day (some Persian fest I think).

I never really partake in this. Been an atheist since I remember my earliest memory. But I don't really know who to turn to or seek guidance from now. There is a House of Virgin Mary close to me. Big touristic and a pilgrimage spot. People burn candles and make a wish in it.

Should I go? Is there even a point?

Fuk all that virgin Mary bs. If you need guidance call out to god or jesus and ask him to come into your life and to guide you. Speak from your heart and throw all your problems at him and surrender to him so he can change you. You'll feel something when you truly call out and speak from your heart. yeah they are but the you shouldn't pray to the mother because she has no powers, she just carried Jesus. Only the son and god. Jesus and god are one. Pray to Jesus srs.

I've made two prayers regarding similar things in a two week time frame and they happened. Not sure if just coincidence or divine intervention though tbh.

I believe the real idea behind devoted pray is keeping whatever it is that you want fixed in your subconscious.

It's a reinforcement thing.

If you really want something you're behavior is gonna be characterized by doing things that get you closer to whatever it is that you want.

If I'll be doing this I won't be wishing something like: "I hope I pass tomorrow's exam" or "I hope I get a pay raise next month". Much deeper than these.
