When your family want to stay poor and not invest into bitcoin

So I am visiting my family for holidays and we started talking about the economy and investing. I started talking about how we should give bitcoin another go as last time I got everyone to pool in 100k right after it crashed and thinking that it would go up again but they got impatient after seeing it kept going down and made me pull out when it was 6k.

Me: I think we should invest in bitcoin again guys its skyrocketing its like 24k and and based on the threads im reading on reddit it would be 100k by the end of 2021
Dad: jfc here we go again
Mom: You told us that last time and we had to cancel our vacation to europe because of that
Me: Mom its different this time just trust me
Gen Z Cousin Robert: OMG this is going on tik tok
Uncle Jim: Train57 these pyramid schemes never work the best way to invest is to put it into a ETF and let the dividends invest itself
Me: The ROI is only 10% yearly on average with bitcoin it could be like 100%+
Dad: GODDAMMIT when are you going to stop thinking your the next wolf of wallstreet and finish your degree and finally support yourself
Me: I am too smart for college, and beside look at cousin Timothy he has a degree in econ but he barely makes 100k a year
Cousin Timothy: hey man at least I'm working and being productive to society
Me: Yeah your real productive by paying at least 30% of your income to pay for poor people's welfare like a cuck. We have to takes risks guys, look at Trump he takes a lot of risks and look how successful he is
Gen Z cousin Robert: I knew it he is a Trump supporter and a racist
Mom: What did we do wrong raising him

I then stormed off back to the hotel and started drinking whiteclaws at the bar

cliffs:

Wanted family to invest into bitcoin
They refuse and want to stay poor
I then get into it with them and stormed off

Your an idiot for trying to convince your family to pool in money for an investment. Let me guess, you don't even have enough cash to buy 1 Bitcoin?

Isn't bitcoin too high now to buy, unless you think it's going past the moon (100k). Then again it increased by several thousand again a few days ago.

Bro, pundits were saying $250K this exact same time 2 years ago. Look what happened. When "normal people" start trying to convince their family to buy bitcoin, the top is in.

You are not savvy enough to make money on bitcoin if you use the term "invest."

So your entire net worth (Less then 6K) is allocated in Bitcoin. And you think you're smart and will make money.

And what if it goes back down to the 10-11k range? Which is a lot more likely then 100k.

Bitcoin is not an investment. Its speculation at best.

No matter if you make money, supporting a scam that hinders innovation and encourages the worst of humanity is not good imo. I predicted that bitcoin would go up a few weeks ago, but I still didn´t buy. Why? Because I don´t want to support a scam. The bigger bitcoin gets, the more people it will end up hurting. Sure, you can make good money selling weapons to terrorist or selling drugs to kids. But that doesn´t mean it´s good.

The ramifications of a scam succeeding and becoming big, are much bigger than what you think. Take note of this

Most of the big whales that got in early as in below 1k, will likley sell way before it hits 100k. now who will take the opposite side of that trade when whales starts selling billions.

Since you want to think you are some kind of good person

it could be an alternative currency some people actually take donations in bitcoin and its a way to surpass using traditional banks that charge a fee when wiring over money and banks are not the most morally conscious entities

and since you are into bodybuilding then it requires finances to support it as you have to pay gym memberships and buy food to make gains, why dont you donate that money to charities? isnt that a bit selfish of you to care about your appearance over some starving people in the world?

Becuase they fail to see the bigger picture. They are too zoomed in on the current moment. Thats the case with a lot of specialists.

And to the op^^ Sure, you can say that to anything, but supporting one less scam sure is better. A scam that is setting humanity back non the less. The ramifications will be huge for decades. Rewarding obvious bad behavior which could have easily been avoided, is the least I would expect from a decent person.

Why not just ditch bitcoin and focus on building something better instead???? Thats the rational approach, but of course humans gotta act irrational and emotional with everything.

I think it can be a solid alternative to current model of currency. The reason we use fiat is because we believe in the governments who issues them and assign value to them but then it is controlled by governments but in the U.S. the federal reserve which is not the government. If we all decide to back crypto then it could let the general people control it instead of the government, which with poor decisions they can ruin the currency and it can lose its value with inflation. With Bitcoin its amount is finite so it won't lose it value and it is divisible so it can worth quadrillions. It's like comparing it to gold were there is a finite amount and everybody will buy it.

There is a difference in investing in an innovative company that delivers a product and investing in a cryptocurrency that has a history of being pumped by whales then dumped when enough people, like yourself, buy into it.

Bitcoin is riding high due to Covid and the unsettled presidential election. In a couple of years when Covid is a non-issue and distant memory and we have a secured election and economy. Bitcoin will again be forgotten about. Why the fukk didn't everyone buy Bitcoin when it was floating at 10Kish for like a year? Why wasn't everyone talking about it then?
