Is the Alien franchise worth watching?

Looking for a good movie franchise to binge with the holidays coming up. Seen most of the classics (Rocky, Indian Jones, BTTF etc) but only ever saw the first Alien once a long time ago

thoughts?

Alien 2 and alien 3 is dope, so is alien resurrection. Prometheus an covenant were sick too.

Predator 2 was insane. Predators was good and the avp franchise whilst kinda corny was good too

I only watched the first 2 aliens and they were good. Saw Prometheus and covenant too but those should just be forgotten

Also you should give The Thing a chance too, watched it a few months back and I liked it

The first one was great, second one is one of my all time favorite movies.

The rest are basically rehashed versions of the first two.

I like the series. I personally would prefer if they were darker and more gritty but that's just my style.

Aliens is responsible for rendering the xenomorph from an unrelenting, unstoppable force of nature into alien bug cannon fodder

Good action movie, but it was largely responsible for the downfall of the series and the direction future films would take

Alien 1 is one of the greatest films ever made. Alien 2 is also very well received, but I do not think it is as good as the first.

One of the more memorable scenes from Aliens is when Bill Paxton's character says, "Game over man, game over!" I always think of that scene when I think of all the obstacles you have to get through to get a decent woman in today's age of feminism, social media, and dating apps.

The funny thing is, all the creatures in the Alien universe were sexually-inspired in some way or another. When H.R. Giger depicted the xenomorph originally, its head was modeled after a penis. The facehugger's underside is modeled after female genitalia, and the chestburster's role was first imagined by the idea of impregnating humans.

I know this sounds insufferable, but there is a 3 1/2 hour uncut version of Alien 3 that is a hell of a lot better than the theatrical release. The problem with #3 was the director got too ambitious, and the film got edited to chit. It's actually a good movie when you see the director's full vision.
