They'll never go down again srs

Home gym costs like $6000 now. That's just a power rack, decent selection of plates + barbell + adjustable dumbells

Gotta work smarter, not harder.
1) Create a plate mold
2) go around stealing wheel weights from every car in your neighborhood
3) melt it down into the mold
4) profit

try to buy in bulk, somebody might be willing to let it go for a good price

weights go for around $2-3 a lb, sucks man

many places are also sold out. rogue equipment is overpriced af, sold out and it takes like 6 weeks to ship.

bought some adjustable DBs for $800 that go up to 90 lbs, should last me for a good while, just gonna add bands to it once 90s become too easy to flat bench press.

Sold plates to a powerlifter. He deadlifted 440 lbs with my concrete plates. Zero cracks.
Just don't do half reps and drop them from thigh high and you'll be fine.

yeah i dont think we have seen anything inflate as aggressively as lifting stuff. i rushed and bought a bunch of sht for my home gym back in march. paid like $280 for a 300lb olympic weight set of dicks sporting.

of course they dont have any now. amazon has sellers who are charging $1k for the same set. yeah fck that i would be looking at alternatives

I bought them from a place based in Vancouver, but I think they are most likely the SelectTechs aside from minor differences like paint and branding. Likely the same manufacturer.

Supposed to have them delivered by Dec 23, I ordered them a good 5 weeks ago and honestly just been too lazy to lift.

also lol @ another 28 day lockdown, that's what they said 28 days ago!

Yeah olympic weights are pretty nuts. Starting to find 1 inch plates available for ~1$/lb in places like Walmart though. I think we're starting to get closer to recovering on the supply side.

Got a deal on FB marketplace myself a few months ago. 1k for ~500lbs plates, 200lbs dumbbells, combo bench, a few 1 inch bars and spinlocks. Seemed to be better offers on there than craigslist. Just gotta be patient.

Yeah, this sucks. Someone posted a site (sorry, don't remember what it was) that you can keep an eye on that tells when weight equipment comes into stock, but you have to watch it constantly because it sells out right away. Maybe they'll see this thread. I could really use a set of bumper plates and some more 10 lb plates, but I'm not paying crazy prices for them.

I got mine from the scrap metal yard for like 40 cents per pound. I found a full dumbells set 15-100 lbs and like 700 pounds of plates for the price.

What that Tonal crap is only like $3000 I think? Obviously not a home gym but it is more compact and easier than others.

But for a home gym standpoint, if I was to make one right now, here's what I'd do with my brief google spree, to be as cheap and basic as possible

300lb plate Set w/ Bar- $475
Adjustable Bench - $ 125
EZ Curl Bar - $75
Lifting Rack - $365
DIY Cable Machine - $150
Misc Plates - $100
Misc Accessories - $100

Total - $1,400ish.

Typical gym membership costs - $10, $20, $ 30 a month.

1400/10,20,30 = 12 years, 6 Years, 4 Years to pay off respectively.

but realize that your home gym will be utter ass and not afford the flexibility of other gyms. The only thing stopping from me getting a home gym is the cost to usage ratio. The catchup time for me would be 12 years as opposed to just using my current gym with state of the art brand new equipment.

But yeah weights are expensive for the material and the manufacturing required for them. Then now you're paying the markup on COVID Related impacts from greedy fukks. My gym is currently open again and I love it. But as a precaution, I got an EZ Curl Bar, an adjustable bench, 400 pounds in plates, barbell, and adjustable dumbbells for free from a neighbor. They were moving and I helped them with a bunch of stuff and gave it to me for free since they knew I'd use it. But the best place to get weights would be a local scrapyard for metal shop. They could probably give you a cheaper alternative for a weight.

honestly, this was one of the few times where being cucked by directed advertising came in handy lol. was searching on google for adjustable dumbbells and couldn't find any. I log on to instagram and there was like 3 ads for fitness equipment and all 3 of those sites sold adjustable dumbbells.

i got mine from a site called better-body.ca, price has gone up maybe

I quit back in august when the gyms re-opened. Some foreign people still wanted to buy them here and there but nothing crazy as during the lock downs.
So i wasn't really feeling it anymore and stopped selling them.

But now when the gyms got locked down again in my area , old customers reached out to me asking if i had more weights for sale.
So i figured i could make them again since obviously, the quality must be good enough if people want to buy more. (always worried about people having buyers remorse)
And since i already have all the tools, all it takes is some concrete and a little effort. So i'm selling them again for now, just to get a bit of extra money. But i'm not expecting a huge pay day like before since the gyms will probably open again in january, which make people more cautious about buying weights.
