In 2021, the minimum requirements for survival have been raised, be prepared

Boyos, this is a heads up. If you've ever played in poker tournaments, you know that each round the antes and the blinds increase. In the final rounds the antes and blinds are so large that some guys are put ALL IN even before the cards are dealt.

In 2021, simply having sufficient technical skills in a profession is no longer enough, you need to have good social skills, excellent verbal communication skills and be able to play corporate politics.

With work-from-home culture becoming the new norm, this gives employers a much wider pool from which to select prospects. A company headquartered in Los Angeles can hire a guy from San Francisco and have him work remotely, no need to hire a local guy that has to commute into the office. Companies can even hire guys from other states that have lower salaries for the same position.

We're also going to see a trend as companies start downsizing from expensive office towers in downtown metropolitan areas and relocate to a smaller office outside of downtown. Companies will be even more desperate to cut costs wherever they can.

As a man, the only way you can distinguish yourself from a crowd of equally qualified candidates is to have excellent physical presentation(looksmaxxing), excellent communication skills (written and spoken), excellent social skills, and be savvy in playing corporate politics.

Fellas, we've advanced to the next round in this poker tourney, the antes and the blinds have increased.

The cool thing is, you have ample time to building side businesses and double - quadruple dip with the same time while working from home. 2021 will welcome to era of having 2 to 3 to 4 side jobs going simultaneously. If you play your cards right, you will only have to do this for 10-20 years before retirement anyway.

You always had to have these skills if you wanted to climb out of an individual contributor position, and in some cases even to get to a high technical position.

the goal of companies is to bring people back in te office - cuz trust me, everyone's output is horrible workiing from home. People work way better together and companieds have realized this the hard way. Working from home, most people f around 80% of the time anyways.

The truth is most ppl don’t have the hustle to do 2/3/4 side jobs simultaneously

They’ll get their mandatory full time job and get complacent. Focusing on the short term benefits of watching Netflix and drinking on weekends over the opportunity to build a better life.

Lol at thinking remote work will change any of that. People could have long been doing side jobs even while in the office. Fact is, people are lazy and tend to do the bare minimum before giving in to their impulses for activities that make them feel good temporarily

Welcome to human behavior 101

Edit

The fact you marked 2021 as the year this will all start up proves my point. You all literally just had the entire 2020 year working from home.

Why didn’t ppl start these side hustles? Because their was a pandemic? Ah yea.. there’s always some excuse to wait until tomorrow to begin isn’t there?

Yeah 2021 will surely change that lol

Lmao if you think tech and other big corporations that switched to Work From Home are going to start employing Americans from other states/places. They are going straight to India and China for their new hires. They will work for even less and probably get more done.

I can't speak for all companies, but at my company the only employees allowed on site are the technicians on the production floor. The office staff are working from home.

The execs have stated that the earliest possible time they would consider having office staff back on site is summer 2021 when they believe the virus will be less contagious due to the heat.

They're also investigating the possibility of having a seasonal schedule where in the spring and summer the office staff would work on site while in fall and winter office staff would work remotely due to the flu/COVID season.

Boyo, have you seen the tech dweebs in Silicon Valley? These guys are high level software engineers and network architects with some of the most horrendous social skills.

Most of them are Chinese or Indian immigrants with poor social skills and worse communication skills. It's the incel capital of America, that's why San Jose is known to the locals as "Man Jose" cause all the tech dweebs flock there and they can't get laid.

For sure, but that’s why they will get stuck being individual contributors for the rest of their life.

I dont know bro. My corporation has been running numbers and there is zero decrease in productivity. I'm sure it varies from industry to industry though. Life before covid had people just walking around from area to area talking for hours per day.

Also, 100% agree with the OP. I was beginning to feel like I've been going invisible so I recently scheduled a meeting with some bosses to discuss career progression. Gotta be proactive with this chit before your sourced out by some Indian.

The other day I busted a chick and she called her husband to move her mouse cause she's supposed to be at home working - meanwhile she's out committing crime.

Rofl. WFH is a joke, I'm sure some industries are seeing major productivity drop-off. Not all, but definitely a good amount. Also, economies need people moving around doing stuff. You can't keep supremacy with no economy, eventually all this bullchit will go away.

Most Latin Americans can barely speak English, let alone solder a pipe/wire a junction box.

We were so far ahead of the curve. When we started 15 years ago we hired exclusively work from home staff and it paid off big time as we were able to attract talent from all over the world.

My entire division was 100% work from home for more than a decade.

Prior to COVID-19 the office staff had 1 or 2 days a week scheduled to work from home so when the pandemic hit, we just flipped the switch and didn't skip a beat.

If productivity hasn't dropped due to WFH, I'd be willing to be it's because those who were already productive became even more productive, since they aren't wasting time, energy, and money on commutes, and were able to optimize their schedules. However, I am 100% certain that the least productive are slacking off even more due to no supervision. Can't wait for companies to realize who falls into each category and drop the dead weight. Tired of carrying the leeches.

Companies have now realized that about 20% of positions on their payroll were totally non value-adding.... with WFH, it becomes clear as day who contributes and who's goofing around.

They want us back in the office because we're more productive that way. And if they were going remote permanently, they might as well just fire us all and outsource our jobs to India at that point
