Promised a buddy from our car group I'd take him for a ride if my son was not riding with me. Toys for tots run this morning. Son did not come, instead of taking him for ride on one of the leg, I tossed him the keys.

Was fun to be a passenger. He took it up to 130 getting on the highwayEven more fun top down in December. Seat heaters on of course!

Actually it is a pretty high spec. Carbon interior, ad personam full yellow seat which I have only seen on one other car. I love this car. It is ultra clean 2-owner 15k mile car that has never seen a drop of rain in it's life. A very nice example of a Gallardo spyder. Only 'mods' were I added an Lamborghini of Orange County exhaust which really woke the car up. Probably worth about 110k. Was considering selling and getting a huracan, but I prefer the rawness and sound of this car. Also don't like the spyders in the huracan and I always have the tip down 90% of the time I drive unless it is colder than 50. Heated seats are good for that.

I could buy a huracan tomorrow cash and keep this car which is owned. It is not a money thing at all. I really love the car. Never fails to bring a smile.

That is where the car came from. I am on opposite coast outside Charlotte NC.

The Pre-LP engine is a 5.0 l split pin crank which gives it an even firing order and hence THAT sound that people love. The "LP" and Huracan use a 5.2L which sounds totally different. Most guys who go from G to H say it is the sound they miss the most.

The Huracan has the same problem the C7 does, they might actually be too good. In the car world cars that have peculiarities that make them a better fit for specific owners are often more beloved than cars that are just a little too perfect.

Its pretty insane how many Huracans have been sold, you see them absolutely everywhere, same goes for the C7.

Personally, I am a bigger fan of cars that are great but strange enough that you don't see them everywhere due to the number of people that legitimately don't like them.

The Huracan is an awesome car and I have been on the fence about moving to one. But they are almost too refined as you stated. The Gallardo and the single clutch is an experience to drive. Much for the same reason people love the Aventador. It too has a single clutch and raw driving feel. The H can ALMOST be boring. One thing in the Gallardo, it is never boring and always an experience. The biggest thing is I dont like the lines of the H spyder. I love the G spyder. With the top down, it is flat across the back and feels like a car with no roof. The H feels much less 'open'. And I dont like the lines as much on the H spyder w/ the top up where I think the G spyder looks great top up or down.

I have played with jumping up to and Aventador, but the cost of ownership is a consideration also. That is what is REALLY attracting me to the H is the predictability and reliability of the platform. The H is FAR more reliable than the G. You can even daily drive if you desired and rack up miles without worry.

I know a lot of guys that drive a Huracan and all of them love the fact that its a "press the throttle and safely go fast" kind of car. With the right exhaust the V10 sounds absolutely sublime but I just cant get over how civilized it is to actually drive.

The Aventador by contrast is a violent animal. Some people love it for what it is, a single clutch V12 that has the sound and looks that breaks necks and other kind of hate it for the compromises. Like parking, driving in stop and go traffic, tracks/back roads more suited to smaller cars.

Another car on the list to consider is the MP4-12C. It has become very reasonable in price and has a bit more of that "its trying to kill me" feeling. A buddy of mine just got one and installed some aero and power kit on it, supposed to be 700+ HP to the rear wheels.

In fact he is my motivation to get back into cars. I was out of it for a long time. But when this kid was born anything with four wheels always fascinated him.

They grow up quick but this year we made some good memories!

Later today our little group is doing a cruise and we are going to go to two assisted living facilities and do a little parade for them. Just something to help break up their day in the facilities. One of the workers reached out to the people who run our little group.

Was a cool time today. We did two assisted facilities and then did a drive by for a returning service member. Had about 50 guys today and police escort.

Nice enough for top down weather. Was cool to see some of the older folks out and about waiting for us. Easy to forget how isolated some must feel. Lots of good vibes today. My buddy is in the green Huracan in the pics. SUPER clean slammed VW first time we have seen. Hard to see but from the one lineup there is a guy with a 1400hp C7 in the group. Thing is BAD!
