This. Since jamesfrancis1 posted NYtimes as a source then he should also believe the CDC death rate per age. The vast majority are 64+. Isolate the old, send them relief such as stimulus checks and food/medical needs and let the rest of the US open up.

From my anecdotal experience, though, the only people who had severe complications, or died, had some prior underlying condition or were really old. Everyone I know who was generally healthy had minor flu-like symptoms and was fine.
We had a family friend that died from it. He was 86, but slim, healthy and functional.

Except old people have been locked up and they're still getting infected and dying from the virus. I don't understand how others can live carefree and without using basic precautions such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distance. I would not be able to live with myself knowing I infected a loved one, or even a stranger, and caused them to die from a disease that would have been prevented if I had taken minor precautions. You have be an absolute sociopath to truly not care of causing death to others just because you don't want to suffer minor inconveniences.

Yea and people 64+ can have another 30 years of life left in them. They also make up more than 50 million people in the US. Going about your daily life without taking basic precautions means you don't care if you inadvertently kill someone from your negligence. Social distancing doesn't work. Masks don't work. Only washing your hands, disinfecting surfaces, and not touching your face works.

This is a scamdemic.

You are mistaken if you think older people want to be locked down. My parents are in their 70's and they think this is ridiculous. They have been through multiple pandemics and they are pissed off America has gotten so soft. My dad said back in the day there would have been straight up revolt.

Yep have taken my kids there.

Indianapolis Children's Museum. They have a huge outdoor sporting complex now too. IIRC it's still rated the #1 Children's Museum in the country. If you or your kids like transformers they have a huge lik30ft tall Bumblebee in the lobby.

dumb as fuk cuz. My childhood best friends mom died at 61 from it. She went to the gym everyday and had 0 underlying health issues. In fact the whole family got it and even her husband who is obese and has high blood pressure only had a cough. She went from hospital to dead in 48 hours. It effects everyone differently and not going to the bar can save a life.


Also youre ignoring there are 10m 65+ in the workforce still. Are you going to pay their paycheck?

I believe there would be a revolt, but that generation is too old to really do much of anything, and the generations that succeed them have been compromised. I imagine once millennials hold congress and the senate, they will fully hand the keys over to China.

Our ancestors likely would have responded to the pandemic by burying their dead, saying a few prayers, and moving on with their business. Instead, we have politicians using the pandemic to push their communist agendas.

That's cool! Larger part of my company is HQ'd in Warsaw and I've heard good things about Indianapolis. Next time I come up I'll have to stay a couple extra days and check out the city with my wife. Last time I came up there I was by myself and barely had enough time to take a leak.

People are going to die no matter what. There is NOTHING you can do about it. There is no saying who is genetically predisposed to be taken by this virus. It's called evolution. It's called survival of the fittest. There is no beating it until we have heard immunity. Even then, people are going be dying from COVID 50 years from now.

This is just going to be another yearly flu. You realize the Spanish influenza is still around and still kills people 100 years later, right?

Ruining 100's of millions of lives to try and save a few million, that were never going to be saved in the first place, is ludicrous.

Your anecdote is meaningless. Young people have died from the flu as well. Turns out bad things happen during pandemics. Those 65+ working can take whatever precautions they see fit. They're free to wear masks and shields. They can also retire if their not up for the risk.

Do you know old people?

My 84 year old uncle has a farm and a condo in the city where he spends his winters. He's holed up at his farm this winter because he doesn't want to get it.

My 88 year old grandma hasn't left the house and ate Christmas dinner over zoom.

Both are taking the vaccine as soon as it's available.

Old people don't invite death just because they're old.

That's shoddy work and pisspoor methodology. Beyond that these media articles always pretend like the US doesn't have the naturally increasing 40,000 deaths every succeeding year that it does. So they're automatically padding in 80-120K deaths depending on how far back they go to compare as "normal." And by now there are likely 100K or more lockdown related deaths. Extra murders and overdose deaths alone are up more than 20,000 over last year.
