Long story short I've been a Manchester United fan since I was 10 years old and used to be mad obsessed with footy, however I ended up losing interest in football altogether for years and now only recently got back into it.

I've pretty much lost passion for Man Utd and I get more excited watching my local team, Leeds United. There's also a big historic rivalry between the two clubs which makes it more awkward. Leeds fans especially hate Man Utd and call them scum.


I mean I can't really be called a glory supporter since Leeds haven't had any glory for years and only got promoted to the Premier league this season for the first time in 16 years.

What you think? I know most of the misc doesn't watch English football but I'm sure there's similar instances in American football.

Alot of English football fans say you should always support your local club but when I was at school all the kids supported the big teams like Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal etc so I got sucked into it

Not many kids support there local teams who's not that good or in lower divisions infact it's quite common with adults here aswell tbh.

I actually live in Leeds, moved here almost 10 years ago so Leeds United are my local/closest team to me.

I see nothing wrong with switching to local teams if you move, but I personally don't. In the states it's actually easier to watch teams out of market now with streaming lol.

Switching to a lesser team is fine too IMO.

Because my local team at the time, Bath City where a non league team in the Conference so no one really supported them as a 'main team' I went to watch them twice but pretty much every one where I lived supported one of the big premier league teams.

It's very common for people who don't live near a good or decent team.

So lemme get this straight real quick, you glory supported United while they was winning everything then they became sh!t so you fell out of love with their crap team but now Leeds is back in the prem the excitement and buzz of it all in Leeds(supporting them soon as their successful(glory hunter))is making you want to change team and get behind them?

Except I would not worry about it. You never supported a team. I would consider it enjoying the atmosphere more than 'changing' since you're an adult who does not currently support a team and probably will casually support Leeds.

They would if they've moved to Leeds and seen the buzz around them in the city knowing they've just been promoted to the premier league. If he wanted to change team then he would of done it while they was in the championship, why wait till they got promoted? (Supporting their success/glory) not just that, lufc is MUFC's biggest rival next to liverpool? No real mufc fan or lufc fan would switch to the other.

Much respect for fans of teams that are always on the brink of going up or down (like Newcastle, Leeds, Villa, Derby, Swansea, etc). Every season must be a fantastic wild ride

If I was a truly a glory hunter I would of supported Liverpool or Man City both of which I have no interest in whatsoever.

Leeds haven't won a major trophy (first division/prem, FA Cup, champions league etc) since 1992 so I fail to see how it's glory hunting.

I just like watching them play and find them entertaining, it also helps that I actually live near them.

But you've had 15+ years to switch to them, why have you waited till they won the championship and got promoted to the premier league? You've waited till they were successful to switch over? That's the definition of a glory hunter.

How can you be a MUFC fan and want to switch to LUFC in the first place? It's one thing going from MUFC to Wolves but LUFC is MUFC's worst enemy next to Liverpool.

So you live already 10 years in Leeds and didn't support them as long as they were in the lower league but now that they're back in the EPL they're interesting to you.
