~*~* Official Misc 2021 Self-Improvement Positivity Thread *~*~

Bookmark this, memorize its contents, let it imprint on your consciousness.

MISQUE -- 2020 was a raw year for most, if not all. Lockdowns hit, politics were a sh*tshow, and the world seemed to edge one step closer to EOD's dark, liberal nihilism.

No longer.

ITT we post our goals, objectives, dreams for 2021. Whatever you want to achieve -- no matter how crazy or outlandish -- you post. This forum used to promise new beginnings, brahs posting about making it. It's time we make good on the Misc's founding promise of a better brah.

Post and watch the better You materialize.

You gotta be descriptive. The more details you flesh out now, the more tangible and readily achievable it will seem. You might also inspire others to realize a dream they've never previously considered.
I'll start:

- I need a vacation: somewhere tropical where I can take the Mrs. and kick it to forget the world.
- I will increase my bench back up to 2.5 plates. Lockdowns wrecked my gains but it's never too late to start anew.
- I will run 6 miles every other day, building up to 10 by six months.
- I will read 52 books this year, including the greats. I knocked off War & Peace over Lockdown 1.0. I'll hit up the Brother's Karamuzov
- I want to treat my parents to a nice get-away this year.
- I will write my book by writing one page every day before work. Within its pages, there will be a U Aware?

More to come.

Let's get it

This is a thread I can sink my teeth into.

In 2021 my goals are:
1) Get SICK NASTY... Again
2) Make a big dent in my debt
3) Learn how to kickflip or heelflip
4) Play an open mic at a local venue
5) Qualify for tuition reimbursement at work, and start a four year degree.
6) Read more, like a lot more. Starting with a modest goal of twelve books. Anything extra is bonus.
7) Flesh out my home gym
8) Learn some sick calisthenic/bodyweight workouts. Planche on the way?
9) Start eating more vegetables, and greens with every meal.
10) Drink WATER daily

Numbers 1, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are all correlated and should produce great results within a short time frame if you consistently follow through with it. Keep us posted on ur sick gains my guy.

Also I'm stealing #4. I used to sing in a band and the rush that that produced was unlike anything else. Purely in a state of presence.

Read more books. Hit 34 finished this past year, would like to exceed that.

Learn how to knit so I can make mittens/hats/blankets to donate to needy children. I've been saying this for the past several years but I'm determined to do it this year.

Just snapped my 8.5 antihero. A sponsored boio at the local skate spot gave me his 9.0 local shop board and it is a dream to skate. Such a cool guy. I tried to go online to support them financially somehow, but they are so small that I couldn't figure out how to buy lol. I should have been skating bigger boards from day 1.

In. Coincidentally a couple of your bullet points are mine now or were mine last year. Going to Cancun this month, also read War and Peace and currently reading BK. Also running every day and regaining strength lost after post-wisdom tooth removal laziness. I even considered starting to compile thoughts in a more specific manner too with the purpose of writing a personal memoir or even a family history

1. Stop going to uni full time, for part time instead, and go back to working my trade
2. Put a down payment on a nice sized plot of woodland.
3. Find a way to fight again, even if I have to move province - gym closures have made it impossible for me to fight and I've had this pent up aggression all year that's been leaking out in my day to day
4. Buy a drone and work on my side hustle
5. Increase reading frequency to 2-3 books per month instead of 1
6. Go deer hunting

Bolded are all firmly in your control.

Firstly, it's been a brutal year -- forgive yourself and be easy on yourself for taking solace in weed and drinking. Weed can be a tool to help in times of stress and hardship.

Anxiety stems from the belief that we must always exert control over ourselves and the things which affect us. Man must be the master. But that's ridiculous and totally unrealistic.

The paradox is that in order to regain control over ourselves, we must first relinquish the expectation of control. Mindfulness and meditation can be really beneficial in coming to this point, but are things which must first be consistently practiced, as relinquishing control over the "Self" and the Ego is unnatural and unwieldy. I believe you might benefit from this, if you don't do it already.

Here's an interesting vid from Alan Watts (thinker who blended Eastern spirituality with Western philosophy) on it:

- meditate every morning. This always kept me level headed and made me feel better about myself. It gave me a more relaxed and peaceful mind along with making me open minded.

- lose 80lbs. Im sick of looking like chit. Time to transform my physique and work hard in the gym 6 days a week.

- get my GED. I should've done this years ago.

- Go to college to pursue a degree in physical therapy and then get my degree in sports medicine. I want to make something of myself and have a career that I am passionate about and can earn a good living doing.

- get a job somewhere so I can have some money in my pocket. Im sick of being broke all the time. I need to gain a ton of work experience and get promotions so the next job id get would make it so I get paid more than the last.

- get my driver's license and buy my first car.

I have a lot of stuff to work on. I know I can do it. I just got to apply myself and stay focused.

1. Publish my first mainstream novel and trying to get at least 4 full novels out by end of year, maybe more.

2. Get bodyfat back down below 20% and weight down. Cut back on drinking and crappy food.

3. Never go more than a week without having sex. Regular 3-4 women on rotation for my own sexual pleasure.

4. Start my karaoke Youtube channel for singing, which I love doing but performing with bands is a PITA.

5. Make a new friend network, which is hard as a 45 year old guy but I'm going to work hard at it. Get out more and be social.

6. Enough passive income to pay my rent by end of year which is over 2k a month.

Most of them are writing related which just needs to be a common thing done daily - it already is, I could just do more.
