That's the point I'm trying to make. OP asked "why don'tmorepeople listen to death metal. Why would any young person in 2020 listen to a style of music where the most popular bands are 20 or 30 years old? Us older guys in this thread grew up with this music, but kids today didn't. It's not their scene. Time has passed death metal by, ya know? Selling 10k copies of a new album in 2020 is a great success. Morbid and Cannibal were selling 100k in 1995.

Groove and Thrash is as far as i'm willing to go in metal. If i can't make out what you're saying and you're screaming most of the time, that's my cue to turn it off.

That's why Thrash is goat in my opinion. It's not balls to the wall 90% of the time. I love the slowed down and melodic parts in thrash too.

I’ve been listening to DM for about 13 years now. Is there even anything good coming out lately? Haven’t actively searched for anything in awhile. The last Nile album from 2016 was pretty good. Only metal band I really follow anymore is Blut Aus Nord, but that’s BM.

Bought their collection on bandcamp a while back. Also, vildjharta is cutting edge metal. Loathe is also excellent.

That's okay!

I think that is more in the Nu Metal range though which is a synth rock combo and my favorite.

Rammstein is my favorite band and they are rock, synth, and have a masculine singer.

Most death metal albums are timeless which is why it great in my eyes. I can pull up an DM album release 20-30 years ago and it still holds up today. Only difference is production quality. Some even mop up whats currently out there.

I can understand why most people can't get into it, too loud and distorted with cookie monster vocals with a repetitive sound. But you can say that about most music you aren't into.
All rap is, is a beat with someone one talking/"rapping" over it. I never go into that...but again some people do.

Imagine you are a normal bro like reggae, techno, blues...

and you marry a woman who is super metal, loves Rotting Christ, Dying Fetus, etc. Have to listen to ****loads of metal everyday. That's what we do for love.

Man loved earlier In Flames when I was a teenager, I remember tuning my guitar 1 step down + drop C to play Episode 666, strings were flopping all over the place.

Sloots can't dance to it therefore it does not get your dink wet, therefore it's not cool bro.

metal overall is grotesque companion for fellow rotters

death for those that are younger, angry and still have energy

Melodic death metal that has solid hooks and structure I don't mind. The constant growl/play same tempo nonsense is just rubbish.

In Flames have some awesome songs. Nightrage is ok, but usually I find a couple songs per band I really like and the rest I never listen to.

I prefer with metal more progressive style vocals, melodic rock etc.
EoR is powered by unique Nanomolecular Hyperdispersion Technology. Giving him high bioavailability and myocellular saturation.

Love death metal when lifting but the second I hear the pig growling/snorting it's time to change artists. Need to start exploring more but it's hard to find a band that clicks.

Wish I could find an artist that sounds exactly like old Underoath - Cries of the Past. That chit was heavy before they turned emo.

Don't be foolish. Nothing is timeless. The daywillcome when no one remembers a single line of Shakespeare, if you wait enough centuries. And as for "good" music, yeah I love death metal. But it was always a niche art form. It wasn't meant to be popular or mainstream, actually it strove not to be. And I have to disagree with your premise; music is good not because it is time-less, it is good precisely because it exists in a certain moment in time where it resonates with the listening public. Why did the Beatles explode when many other bands failed? Why did hair metal fail and get replaced by grunge overnight? More topically, why did black metal supersede death metal as the dominant stylistic aesthetic in the Scandinavian countries in the early 90s? Tastes change. Every band or style of music has its day in the sun, and then fades away. This is the nature of the universe. Nothing is meant to last forever. Look at this thread, dude. The majority of people discussing death metal are over 30. Younger people are looking for their own sound. And that is ok. And in another generation those kids will be hip to something completely different.
