It's common practice to take the shoes off where I live. This also applies to visitors.

Wear slippers around my own house as I usually need something on my feet or i'm freezing. I don't expect visitors to remove their shoes on hard surfaces. If i'm going to entertain ill just mop the floor after or something.

The japanese got it right with offering their visitors slippers.

Shoes off in our house. At the outlaws house they always have shoes on and even tho the mother in law cleans regularly the floors are still filthy. Pisses me off when our son comes home from a visit and his socks/feet are filthy. Fukkin savages they are.

What kind of a savage question is this.

Shoes off. If guests come over you offer them slippers as well if you rock slippers yourself.

I have designated shoes that never leave the house, though sometimes I wear them out in the driveway to get the mail, take out the garbage, etc.

Let me get this straight, miscers mock mask-cels for a harmless virus but are concerned about the transfer of dirt to floor from shoes worn in the house?

Makes total sense. In b4 it's different living in dirt. Let's be real unless your shoes are coated in mud the transfer of dirt to the floor is basically inconsequential. It also doesn't look any dirtier either before someone says that.

Strong pansies ITT. I hope you all are masking up regularly! LMAO

Take them off. You step on piss, spit, garbage, and other stuff when you're outside. Why would you bring that stuff inside?

Wearing shoes in non-public indoor settings is something you do when a place is filthy and unkempt. That it's gross enough that you don't feel comfortable with taking your shoes off.

If you wear everyday shoes inside of your own home, then I've got bad news for you. It's one of the easiest ways to determine that someone is a slob. Why? Because they have no problem taking all the crap they pick up on their shoes outside/in public places and tracking it all over their own home. Says a lot about a person, IMO.

What also says a lot about a person is if they are disrespectful enough to wear shoes in someone else's very clearly clean home, even though they see the home owners/renters clearly not wearing shoes inside the house themselves. Take a hint and get your nasty asss shoes off of my damn hardwoods I just cleaned, you degenerate pricks.

Yep. It's not hard to figure out that you can wear clean shoes designed for indoor wear if you really feel the need to do that. If it's visitors, then tough chit, or bring your own if it's an extended stay situation and you want to wear shoes in my house.

This. Anyone who wears their outdoor shoes inside is a degenerate.

Even bought some shoe covers for the tradies that stop by after the cable guy mucked up the place last year.

It's not just about germs. It's about minimizing literal dirt and chit like that getting tracked throughout your home.

Try having all or mostly hardwood/non-carpet dark surface floors in your home. They're really nice, but they shed a lot of light on just how easy it is to make a place nasty if the cleaning isn't kept up on. That cleaning can be made much easier/lower the needed frequency by not treating your place like a slum.

I've had a lot of tradie work done in my home the past couple years. Especially this year since I got divorced from a less than cleanly ex, I've gotten into the habit of keeping my place pretty spotless, for the most part. I can always tell just by looking at the floors that tradies have been there. I can have the floors completely shined up before they start work, and there will always invariably be dust, dirt, little pebbles, etc. leftover from their shoes and areas they did work but no cleanup (I mean they never really clean up, but you get what I mean).

I almost always take off my shoes in the house. It keeps the place cleaner and my feet feel more comfortable. Since I began doing that, with out surprise my shoes last longer too.

Must be a cultural thing. Most white families around my parts do not take off their shoes inside.

I grew up in an Asian family and my mom used to scream at me for wearing shoes and I hated it. One day as a kid I went over to my friends house and his whole family walked around with shoes which wasn't a big deal to me until I would see them lay down all over the floors while hanging out in the living room. To make matters worse they had dogs who would go outside and then they'd bring them inside and those dogs too would lay on the ground, on the couch.. in their beds. Groce as fuk.
Kindness is all that matters in life

Shoes off. Well sometimes. If I’m just running in real quick I don’t care but if I’m staying, shoes off.

I also ask friends and stuff when I go to their places and they look at me like I’m crazy for asking. But I’ve always asked.
