Before you jump on me and call me an antiscience trumptard : I don't associate with either political parties and I am not anti-vax. I looked at the statistics for people in my demographic and I came to the conclusion that the vaccine is simply not a necessity for me, I will take my chances with the virus.
Anyhow, I think this thread had good intentions, despite the bias, and the information is definitely useful to people who are interested in taking the virus seriously, so good job for it, srs.

I'm not anti-vax either, but first round of a vaccine that was developed in never before heard of time frame?
I'll let people who need it more than I do have it first.

I'm not anti-vax either, but first round of a vaccine that was developed in never before heard of time frame? I also agree with this, but we don't know the long term effects of the covid either. Still I'll be taking my chances and won't try to push my choice on others.

I know plenty of people who have gotten it. My SO, who is a pretty healthy person and is younger than me, was practically stuck in bed for two weeks.
Her grandfather got it and was hospitalized. Dude's a tough mfer and got shot in the leg while being robbed. No health problems. He survived this too.
A mutual friend of my SO and I lost both his father and grandfather to the virus. His mother too. However you swing it, that's incredibly unfortunate.
One thing that kind of bothers me about the crowd who downplays the virus is such that they talked all this chit about how "false positives, people re-testing, etc" contributed to the increase in cases... But then don't want to acknowledge how that also skews the ratio of deaths to cases.
Look, I'm all for you not taking the vaccine if you don't think it's worth it. I don't feel like you should be required to take it. If you don't think the virus is a legitimate threat to your well being, and that it's just the flu, that's fine. I've gotten the flu before and it sucked. I don't want to get it again, and I'm sure you don't either.
As young, healthy individuals, it's fair to go "I will likely survive" and that's most likely true.
It's when the discussion goes from "I will likely survive, I'm a healthy young individual who has decided not to vaccinate and am aware of how this decision may affect me" to conspiracy theories, that we have to address the elephant in the room.
And the elephant in the room is that there's a growing population of people who genuinely think that this is all the result of some secret cabal planning to take over the world... But zero of the theories hold up to scrutiny. Seriously, I've read through a decent amount of them and zero of them hold up or are congruent with each other. And still, miscers will present two opposing conspiracy theories as a congruent thought at times, without even acknowledging it.
In times of uncertainty, public interest in conspiracy theories increases.
Plus, it's even weirder to me that 90% of the people yammering about how the death percentage isn't even that high are also pro-lifers which is the most ironic thing in the world because these SAME people use arguments in the opposite context "All these liberals are talking about how 350K lives matter, but kill babies by the million!" Are you using this argument in favor of letting 350K people die? Because it's like, that's not a pro life argument at all.
And it's like, look, zero of these thoughts are congruent anymore.

With respect to the virus itself, we hear all the time about the aggregate numbers, but there is never any analysis or discussion on a micro level. CA has huge numbers despite lockdowns -- why not have an honest discussion about the micro causes of those numbers (e.g., CA demographics (lots of old ppl), general unhealthiness of population)? Why not have an adult conversation along the lines of "look, if you are part of x or y at-risk group, you really really need to stay at home, and if you know any of those ppl, you really need to stay away from them." Instead we focus on these big numbers w/out any analysis and apply the causation to the population as a whole, and of course there is push back by individuals.
We have all of these absurd and inconsistent rules that lead to ppl saying "lol yeah, the virus knows to stay away from BLM rallies" and believing nothing we are told -- no one on the left is calling out or acknowledging that what is actually being done here is a cost/benefit analysis and that maybe it is OK to undertake a cost/benefit analysis regarding more things related to the virus. And of course, this is being exploited by big tech and big retail for monetary gain, but when we talk about stimulus checks, there is no talk about who is going to pay for it -- Amazon, Google, etc. should be paying for these checks, not the middle class who is already hit hardest by taxes.
Cliffs: yeah there is a lot of disgusting bullsh*t being spouted by the right leaning crowd, but there is a lot of the same disgusting bullsh*t being spouted by the left leaning crowd, and not acknowledging that is empowering them.

Unfortunately, most people seem to be in either of those camps, and are quick to call anyone who disagrees with them "morons".

OnlyHope is illustrating that his username should be OnlyCope - this isn't a first either.
Both of them think that calling people names means they won the "argument" that doesn't even exist.

Edit : Take a look at the post above... Hard to believe an adult male came up with that.
