2020 Projects - What did you knockout?!

For those who like projects, wanted to share some progress photos of the bed I built.

This was one of my 2020 projects. Had an idea in my head and just ran with it. Turned out better than I could have expected.

If you guys have any cool projects you knocked out in 2020, please share!

I want to make a rolling cart with a plexiglass or glass door for my CRT tv out of wood. But I don't know how to design it or where to get plans so it looks nice and is strong. Any idea OP? CRT is 36" and 240lbs so it has to be somewhat custom probably. Maybe I could modify some existing plans but I'm not a woodworking guy so I don't know where to look. My dad likes carpentry so he can help me but need some plans because he's not much of an engineer

My first question is why do you have a CRT TV still? And how does that weigh 240? Is that one of these? lol dang

Mirin brah, but most of us Miscers can't even chew gum and Misc at the same time. But my Lakers and Dodgers won it all this past year and I rooted hard from my couch so that counts as something.

I play Super Nintendo on it. Also got a Mister fpga that I'm going to emulate Neo Geo and Playstation.

This isn't mine, just a stock photo of the same thing. Its a NEC XM37, paid more than I care to admit. There's a similar but smaller NEC XP29 for $3500 on ebay. Mine is in good condition and don't want dust collecting or people bumping into the glass.



Its IMO the 2nd best CRT in the world behind the Sony BVM-D32

Mirin. I built a bed for my firstborn years ago. #2 is still in a crib but I'll be there again sooner than I want :/

First 2021 project was this weekend - put in a new garage door opener bc the logic board in the old one died. Upgraded to dat dere belt drive, quiet as the grave baby!

Depending on your budget, look into regular 2x4's on the cheap side. On the more expensive side can look at hardwoods. I'd build something simple for the TV to sit on and then look at getting 4 heavy duty plate casters. Those should be able to handle more than 100lbs at each wheel.

Lots of different ways to attack it. All up to your budget and imagination.

Thanks man! It's fun to see the progress and finished item. I'm actually new to this woodworking stuff too. I have years of misc. carpentry stuff with my dad though. This was the second time I've stained/sealed something and first time using a kreg jig. It turned out sturdy as fukk though, not a single squeak or shake in it.

Refinished the floors throughout most of the house. White trim around doors and floor was done last year.

Kitchen - Refinished the cabinets, new hardware, under cabinet lighting.

Living Room - New flooring, doors, hardware.
Refinished the banister, what a pain that was, almost as bad as the cabinets. New couch, TV, furniture, plants, pics. Don't have an updated pic of everything.

Bedrooms - New furniture, don't have pics yet.

Office - New 43" monitor with receiver, Bluetooth DAC, and Boston Acoustic Towers.

Next on the list is counters and backsplash.

I did a complete kitchen reno in 2017/2018. Took entirely too long, but turned out nice. First time doing porcelain plank tile flooring. What a PITA! I'll just stick with LVP next time..

I knocked out a lot of customers at the hardware store. Was a fake security guard/real store associate during covid at the hardware store and I was knocking people str8 the phuck outta the store like crazy. Dont wanna wait in line, gtfo, cant deal with the line in front of the store, gtfo

Thanks! I did porcelain in the bathroom and the entry, highly recommend LVP and it was about the same cost per sf and so much less work.
