But I Miss My Gym...

Don't miss the long miserable MI winter, don't miss the bad roads...

I tried another location of the same chain here for a minute and the facility was a lot fancier (price higher too), but it didn't have the same kind of energy. Not as many people, not as many classes. Locker room was super nice...spa like for real.

Peeked at insta to see if I could spot any familiar faces and I see a couple.

Tried a few spin classes here and did not enjoy them...suffocating lack of air circulation and this was before I got so out of condition.

Crowded gyms can be annoying AF, but there is something about that buzz. Just don't try to run anything complicated during that after work crush. And you better get your mat for Saturday morning yoga quick before the room is full so you don't end up with your mat right where the door swings open.

Life Time Fitness, huh? I toured the one near me. $150/Month. It was like a resort with a bunch of young kids and old Jews running around. I wouldn't use 99% of the facilities. No Thanks Jeff. I chose Planet Fitness for $10/Month. I just need an open flat bench, some dumbbells up to 50 pounds, a pull-up bar, a Captain's Chair, a stairmill, and a treadmill.

The lifetime in Sterling Heights is awesome. More pricey than I would ever pay to move weight, but certainly played a lot of basketball there

Many gyms aren’t going to be coming back or make it. Snowflakes don’t want to go in that environment ever anymore when they can use a peloton or some bs in their safe space. Those people are gyms bread and butter, pay for a membership and barely use it

Waited in line to get into a gym for the first time in my life on Monday, and then yesterday it wasn't that packed, had to wait for a bench for like 10 minutes, which honestly might be the longest I've ever waited for anything in the gym. But I agree there's a fine balance between a gym being so packed that you can't use anything and you lose your flow, and then when a gym is just empty and you lose energy. I think we all secretly want to be seen and making gains by other people. It's really why I could never have a home gym, I need to be in the moment with people to really hit my stride. My gym is pretty big with all new stuff, and I enjoy seeing people work out too, kind of pushes me a little harder.

The one here I don't like as well. My MI one was under $100 and I was there 5 days a week usually...spin class and yoga class more than anything. It was a good value since a single spin or bike class can easily be $15 X 5 a week would be $300 a month.

Definitely a crowd on the courts at Canton too. The stretching area overlooks the courts w/a glass wall.

I've been going to my gym for around 12 years now. Won't change unless it closes. It's only $20. a month and the only other gym that's about the same distance and less expensive is PF. Every other gym is too far and too expensive.

Sorry your gym closed.

I got a postcard in the mail here for The Edge. So I guess there is one that is/has opened locally. I did notice that they seemed to emphasize classes, but not spin or yoga.

PF isn't going anywhere anytime soon. People that travel or just want to use the bathroom/shower will probably keep them going.

I'll take an empty gym over a crowded gym 10/10. Don't need energy/motivation from other people. If I have enough energy to get to a gym and lift/workout then I have enough energy to get things done.

Das not it mane.

I actually have some videos around. And there is always youtube. I *should* make my own schedule of some kind srs.

A big reason why classes worked well for me is that it gave me a set time to show up vs. "in a minute", "after I finish this", "tired now though...tomorrow".
