Why is it wrong to work 2 high income jobs?

From what I've read, it's called moonlighting.

Say you work from home making $100k. You then pick up another job making $100k. You can do all the work in a timely fashion, hell it might be easy for you and you get downtime.

A lot of people say it's wrong and you'll get fired. Why is that?

They don't want you working on anything that could be construed to be competing/conflicting interests. At my firm not only will you be terminated but they will also claim ownership of the work that I was doing, as well as a percentage of the earnings that I had made through the work. With my comp, I have not found this to be unreasonable.

Most places I've worked explicitly state that you can work anywhere else as long as it doesn't interfere with your work here and as long as there isn't a conflict of interest (like you can't work for two competing companies at the same time).

What if it's a different field of work, or say on the other side of the country?

Definitely makes sense though, imagine working for 2 Construction firms bidding the same project LOL

I'm pretty sure there's no rule that you can't have other jobs. WTF are you talking about?

It's only an issue if there's a conflict of interest like the other poster said.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

The way it is at my company, as long as it doesn't go against the rules pertaining towards non-compete code of conduct, employees can work multiple jobs. In my situation, I can't pursue my same job industry without breaking those rules, in addition to any other job that's related towards services offered by the company.

Basically it means I'd have to either get skilled at something unrelated to my current field, and unrelated to my company's service offerings, or alternatively I'd have to do some under the radar type of chit and hope it doesn't ever bite me.

My gross income in 2020 was $97k in a low-average cost of living area. 2021 I'm looking at 105-110k depending. More money would be nice but I'm debt free, living below my means, and don't feel any urgency to do something else. But TBH if I was to work a side gig that paid money immediately, it'd be something like delivering pizzas. Otherwise my ideal would be to get into video game streaming and build a following that way, to where donations/subscriptions/sponsorships can bring in a solid chunk of change. Pizza delivery seems more obtainable. Streaming on Twitch/YouTube is possible but could get me in trouble if I'm caught being anti-SJW, or being an otherwise despicable human from a professional's perspective, and then my company finds out about it or something.

Tricky. When in doubt just keep buying some lotto tickets every now and then and hope you strike some gold I guess.

is it even possible to have two legit jobs at once? Like if you have any professional job you have a LinkedIn account and it would be easy for any employer to see you are currently employed elsewhere.

How do you keep something like this under the radar?

You make 97k a year and can't think of a side gig more profitable than delivering pizzas?

Where do you have time to do that much work? A 100k job itself would take a lot of time assuming you're focusing on your performance. They're no easy tasks.

I could see doing side gigs but two jobs simultaneously. Good luck.

Doing two 40 hour week 'standard w2' jobs at the same time would be difficult purely because of corporate bull**** like being 'available' off hours as an expectation. So you go to your moonlight job that starts at 6pm or something work until 2am, get 5 hours of sleep a night but all during that time your being pinged by people for random chit etc or call you looking for help on something in an emergency and you're working your opposite job.

I'm sure there are options out there that would work relatively okay but at what cost? your sanity? your health? lol.

Best 1/2 combo to me, is an online self owned business endeavor like streaming or whatever that is make your own hours + a full time salary job. Working for two different CEO's seems like a terrible idea for someone whose looking to escape the rat race by increasing his income.

Not unless it involved my industry or similar industry, which would get me wrecked at the current job.

Pizza delivery is something I'd be able to do for immediate cash. Like apply, interview, and start making some money on the side within a couple of weeks. Pizza delivery especially due to tips.

Twitch/YouTube is something I'd rather do and would be easy to work into a systematic schedule with life/work, but it requires being entertaining, and consistency to get a following going.

Point taken though, it's not something I've sat on and considered in depth.

I would think it would be difficult to find a two different professions that require the degree of skill required to make six figures that wouldn't overlap. The main fear would be that you are taking money out of your employers pocket by being competition and or devoting time to another gig.

My work is global so I'm not sure how that would make a difference. I'm not interested in a different field of work. I mean, I could technically sell pickles at the local farmer's market or something, but why?
