Your thoughts on lat pull down attachment. Worth it?
I can't take the one hour limit at my gym, so I'm setting up at home. I'm seeking the best value home gym set up to get results.
I'm buying a power cage for squats and bench press, pull ups. Also a land mine.
I feel like free weights are so excellent.
Do you think a lat pull down is worth it? Any other tips on home gym set up are welcome.

I don't think it's necessary if you have a good pull up bar on the cage with all of the different grips, and you can do pullups as well as load your body with weight
How about trying without the lat pull down part first, then if you really feel like you are missing it, get it

If you have a power rack I don't think a lat pulldown machine is worth it. I have a similar setup and have been doing weighted chinups and pullups the entire time, rendering the lat pulldown obsolete for myself personally. If you're not strong enough to pull yourself up, then use your olympic bar. Lie down under it and do some kind of hybrid pull-up until your strength is sufficient enough. Or use a step and do some negatives.

i'd reccomend a pulley cable system like this that can be used for lat pulldowns(amongst many other exercises) while being the most cost effective option for a home gym or just to have around the house to workout with

If your doing lat pulldowns in a 12-20 rep range with a weight so close to your bodyweight it pulls you off the floor, its time to move onto pullups.

I’d say yes. If it’s anything like mine, you’ll be able to do way more than lat pulldowns with it. This depends heavily on which one you get though.
Something thatjustdoes lat pulldowns? Probably not - especially if you have access to weighted pull-ups.

I do all kinds of things with mine that you can't do with a regular pullup bar, like pullovers and various grip pulldowns.

The cheaper one is more immediate. The more expensive pull down is lovely though. Possibly more versatile. I can't believe I'm not at the gym right now.

I used to use the lat pulldown/low row attachment for the power cage I used to have and to be honest, it sucked. I basically had to lube it up with silicone lube every time I wanted to use it. Perhaps my expectations were too high (was expecting something similar ... but not necessarily exactly like ... a commercial lat pulldown). Loading up the thing with plates was a pain in the ass as well.
I ended up trashing it and getting an actual lat tower with weight stack. I got mine new from New York Barbells, but it was on sale for $800. And TBH, even that machine leaves a bit to be desired, but it's a night and day difference better than the lat attachment I was using. If you shop around on the used market, you can get a quality commercial grade lat machine for a decent price. Just gotta be patient.

Free standing pull up bar would be a better investment.
